God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PlayStation Portable - Image 1

We know that you're all craving for more info on God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PlayStation Portable. Today we've got some eye candy via screenshots and info for you so sit tight.

Sony Computer Entertainment and Ready at Dawn's God of War: Chains of Olympus will take us into Kratos' adventure once again. And what an adventure it will be. After denouncing Ares, Kratos pledges allegiance to the gods of Olympus in the hopes of getting redemption for his sins. He will have to travel across lands that no mortal have passed before and will have to fight against the monsters of mythology. In the end, it all boils down to Kratos' choice between saving the world from destruction and his own redemption.

Reportedly, God of War: Chains of Olympus will be a prequel to the events in the series and will feature Kratos' adventures as champion to the gods for ten years. The video game for the PSP will also sport the following features:

  • Epic gameplay on the PSP with dramatic camera angles and epic set pieces
  • Players can utilize new brutal combat moves along with their favorite combo attacks from the God of War franchise.
  • From the Gates of Hades to the Depths of Tartarus, the journey will take players through the dark and brutal world of Greek Mythology.
  • Prepare for some problem solving with a labyrinth of challenging puzzles inter-woven into the story.
God of War: Chains of Olympus is slated for the holiday release this year. We'll be sure to give you more info on this video game title but in the meantime, check out the screenshots and art.

God of War: Chains of Olympus - Kratos with shield - Image 1

After dishing out some gameplay-related details straight from God of War II game director Cory Balrog, we're now releasing some in-game screenshots featuring God of Badass, err, War directly from the video game's developer, Ready At Dawn (courtesy of PlayFrance).

As you can see from the game's image above, Kratos now carries a shield to make up for the loss of his dodge moves (PSP doesn't have a right analog stick for it remember?). We're also treated to a menacing screenie of a Cyclop baddie wielding a wooden club thingie (God of War has been known for its creative use of Mythological characters and weaponries). Lastly, we're given a glimpse of how sick the graphics for the PSP version will be, and as a God of War follower myself, I have to admit this is almost of PS2 quality.

Anyway, God of War: Chains of Olympus will follow Kratos' dark path right after Ares chained him with the Blades of Chaos. As a soldier of Ares, Kratos is forced to do his bidding which usually had him waging the former God of War's battles. It should also give us a better grasp of the old Spartan general's struggles under the command of Ares, as well as how he coped up with the loss of his soul (it should be remembered that he asked Ares to make him a great warrior in exchange for his soul).

God of War: Chains of Olympus should hit video games' store shelves come November. That's pretty short in video gaming timetables (provided there are no delays), so we should be able to see the Ghost of Sparta combo'ing with his Blades of Chaos inside our PSPs in no time.
