PSPCoders have been coming up with all these homebrew "changer" apps lately which allow you to, well, change various things in your PSP. We have gracz54's PSP Mac Address Changer, and there's also Aserto's PSX GameID Changer.

And now, to add to that ever-changing list of changer apps, here's another one from Dabomstew which will allow you to change the version displayed in 3.03 OE-A system settings without hexediting or manual flashing.

Usage Instructions:
  • Check that your psp is on firmware version 3.03 OE-A by Dark_AleX. If it isn't, you cannot use this app.
  • Connect your psp to your pc via usb. Then copy the vc folder supplied to X:PSPGAME150 (where X is the drive letter of your psp).
  • Disconnect USB and run the version changer like you would any homebrew app, and follow the onscreen instructions.
Additional notes from Dabomstew:

I was able to update 3.02 OE-B to 3.03 OE-A with a custom version on 3.02 OE-B, but im not sure about the updaters to go to a new release on the same kernel eg 3.02 OE-A to 3.02 OE-B. I guess we'll see =P If it doesn't work, you can easily change your version back to default.

He also said that this worked fine on his 3.03 OE-A-donning PSP, but it's not guaranteed that it'll work 100% every time. If you encounter any problems with this app, please drop him a line in our forums so that he can update it but he says not to expect any more functionalities to be added. However, if Dark_AleX will come up with more versions of his custom firmware, he may bump up this app to include support for DAX's updates.

PSX GameID Changer

Aserto from our forums has just released a little application for use on your Windows PC to help organize your PSX EBOOTs on your memory stick into a naming format you wish to give it, rather than the default title. If you don't want all your games to be called "hot shots golf" then this may be just the right application for you. Being able to change the GameID of a PSP compatible PSX game has always been present, but until now required the use of a hex editor which not only requires expert knowledge but a reasonable amount of time. With this application you can change the GameID of your PSX titles quickly and with little fuss.

Over the holiday period we have seen many Popstation Gui's materialize, culminating in the release of PSX2PSP v0.7 today which is supposed to be easier and faster to use than most Popstation GUI's, circumventing the need for cygwin.dll, base.pbp and popstation.exe on your computer. Using a PSX2PSP tool in combination with aserto's PSX GameID Changer will certainly save you time and make your PSP much more organised - all in a 6KB download! What more could you ask for?

Well, I personally am an IRC junkie. I prefer IRC over other 'newer' chat networks like MSN or AIM. And if you're like me, you'll sure love aserto's newest homebrew - An IRC client for the PSP. And get this straight. It's not just ANY IRC client. It supports a multitude of features like:
  • DDC File reception
  • Multichannel support
  • Basic IRC commands support
  • Private Message support!
And just when you thought this was awesome, check out the upcoming 'planned' features:
  • Improved DCC support
  • Improved CTCP support
  • Add IRC commands
  • DCC multitransfer support
  • Multiserver support
I don't know about you guys but I can't wait to give this awesome homebrew a try. If you're looking for screenshots, here's one more.

And finally, the download link. You'll need Lua Player for this, so if you don't have it, grab it below. Plus, if you're using it on 2.0 or above firmwares, you'll have to use it with Lua Player 0.16. For the people on 1.5, you should be using Lua Player 0.20.
