Atari800 PSP v2.0.3.27 - Image 1 Atari800 PSP v2.0.3.27 - Image 2

Homebrew developer uberjack (Akop Karapetyan) is sending out word that he has recently finished work on a new build for Atari800 PSP. This application, in case you missed out on Atari 800 PSP's previous releases, will enable users to emulate games from the Atari 800, 800XL, 130XE, and 5200 gaming systems on your PSP.

Atari800 PSP's version 2.0.3.27 will now enable its users to switch/eject discs without having to reset their system. For the guys who prefer their retro gaming bouts uninterrupted, we imagine this comes as very good news. Further information for this emulator such as controls can be found in the file bundle's readme HTML. You may also want to visit uberjack's site for further details, via the source link we provided.

Atari800 PSP v2.0.3.26 - controller, long filename bugs fixed - Image 1 Atari800 PSP v2.0.3.26 - controller, long filename bugs fixed - Image 2

Homebrew developer uberjack (aka Akop Karapetyan) just released an update for his latest emulation project Atari800 PSP, bringing it up to version 2.0.3.26. If you failed to read our previous articles on this, take note that this particular program is capable of emulating games from Atari 800, 800XL, 130XE, and 5200 on the PlayStation Portable.

If you've been using the current version, we highly suggest that you get the new build because several important fixes were done to it. Here are the changes from the developer himself:
  • Version 2.0.3.26: Fixed a serious crash caused by having many long filenames in the same directory
  • Version 2.0.3.25: Fixed controller configuration loading bug
The coder also said that if you're using custom firmwares and encountered problems before, kindly report to him if Atari800 PSP v2.0.3.26 still doesn't fix those. Before running the emulation on your Sony handheld units, refer to the Readme HTML file first to avoid any problems.

Atari800 PSP v2.0.3.2 - Image 1

Homebrew emulator master craftsman uberjack just updated one of his newer emulators: Atari800 PSP. For those who weren't able to catch the prior release, Atari800 PSP can pretty much stand in for Zx-81's Atari emulator. This baby from uberjack can emulate games from Atari 800, 800XL, 130XE, and 5200 on the PSP. Sweet, huh? That's your dad's entire collection of video games right there!

While the very first release of this emulator was released around half a month ago, this version update covers some minor bug fixes and improvements. Some of the fixes also focus on controller config issues, one of which was actually pointed out by a user. See? It pays to give the homebrew developer your feedback!

Atari800 PSP v2.0.3.2 now includes the following updates, additions, and fixes, as stated in the changelog:
  • Fixed mislabeled 'Joystick Right' control (thanks Robert)
  • Updated GUI - menu animations
  • Fixed various bugs dealing with controller configuration
  • Improved state saving/loading screen
As always, you can glean more information from the readme included. Unlike most other readme files though, the one included in the archived download is an html file viewable in a browser.

Montezuma's Revenge emulated via Atari800 PSP - Image 1

A new Atari emulator is in town. It hails from none other than uberjack, the emulator master who's also done other PSP homebrew emulators like ColEm PSP, SMS Plus PSP, and fMSX PSP. To add another card up the homebrew developer's library is Atari800 PSP. This new emulator allows users to emulate games from Atari 800, 800XL, 130XE, and 5200 on the PSP (pretty much like what Zx-81 made).

The current version that we have here is Atari800 PSP v2.0.3.1. And being the initial release that it is, it doesn't have so much as a changelog. This version though has no ZIP support yet, and could possibly be incorporated into the emulator once people show interest in the feature - make sure you send the developer some feedback now!

All relevant info about compiling games, installing the homebrew, and controls are found in the readme (which is an html file, mind you).

PSP - Image 1Thanks to Ranmax09 from our forums for posting this interesting bit up on the site! Atari800 has just released his Unofficial MapThis homebrew application for the PlayStation Portable over at PS-News. Of course, he gives proper credit to Deniska, In7ane, and MIB.48 as the "REAL brilliant wizards behind this."

Anyway, according to Atari800, this is based on 4.99 beta and should contain the following changes:
  • added speech for:
    • searching for satellites
    • satellite found and fixed
      • only does this once when starting up
  • when you go GPS mode onI automatically drop CPU to 111 mhz
    • once your fixed - I bump it back up to 333mhz
  • It speaks to you
    • left turn ahead
    • right turn ahead
    • arrived at destination
  • Adjusted the warning distance based on the speed you are driving
    • adjust WARNINGDISTANCE=30 in config file for how much area to search when at a stand still. If you go 20 miles an hour - the warning distance is 50
  • Placed circle around you to show warning distance when driving - you can see the area get bigger as you drive faster and smaller as you slow down
He adds in a note that you may actually change any of the voices. Cool, eh? "They are MP3 files in the system directory 128 bit 44khz - I set it to mono but stereo is ok, too... Speaking doesn't work ibn TOP UP mode - searching for and found satellite works, regardless."

As for what's up next with this project, he says he'd like to go see if he can take the BEARING (direction we are going) and look ahead only. Also, he'd like to get into a small neighborhood with lots of quick lefts and rights. But this, unfortunately, could just be his last build for him.

Anyways, you may find out more about his plans, as well as his request on not to be bugged for additional features like pinging for wifi hotspots or whatnot, over at our forums, which you may access through our link below.

Oh, and this works with the official PSP GPS Receiver and Custom Firmware 3.40 OE. Enjoy, guys!
