Here's another lawsuit to help fill your weekly quota of legal drama. This one was filed by the Entertainment Software Association against the Chicago Transit Authority for its 2009 ordinance that prohibits M and AO-rated video game ads from all its vehicles and facilities, citing that the ordinance is a clear violation of the entertainment software community's constitutional rights. |

Midway is now owned by Warner Bros. -- by default. The LA Times report
that the media conglomerate has won the bidding rights to Midway for
US$ 33 million. So how come they won it by default? According to
reports, the big WB was the only one who had a "serious offer". |

What happens after a development team gets dissolved? Sometimes they
get shuttled off to other projects. Sometimes they get together, come
up with a cool name and logo, and go independent. The people behind Robomodo chose the second option, and now they've got a new game coming up for Activision Blizzard. Find out more about the studio after the jump. |

At last month's tail-end, we reported that Sony will make an appearance in the multi-genre festival Lollapalooza 2007 to promote its products. We've got an update on who will provide the entertainment and what's in store for fans of the electronics giant.
Headlining the performers in the event is rock stalwarts Pearl Jam. The American rock band has been around for some time, and their ability to electrify events is a legend in the business. Joining them is Daft Punk, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, The Roots, Stephen Marley and Amy Winehouse. All the artists are looking to set the festive atmosphere for this big event. Of course, Sony's bringing its own fireworks. The PlayStation 2, The PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Portable will all be there to showcase current and upcoming releases for each of the platforms. We can expect a lot of exciting new titles and maybe even a few new accessories from the Sony camp. The event is slated for August 3 to 5 on Grant Park in Chicago. Ticket and event information is available at Lollapalooza.com. |

Yes, it's a brand new year for Sony, and even as the PlayStation Portable hits age two (awww, ain't that something to scribble in your diary?), Sony will be making its way to the big musical hit in 2007 just as they had last year. AT&T is focused on what you want to happen at the Lollapalooza this time around, and Sony decided to tag along.Tickets should be available by April 3. That's about the same time early-bird pricing for (gasp!) soon-to-be released PlayStation games will be revealed for gossip, as Sony stated in an official press release. So if you trust that the line-up of games are worth the vigilance, check the site on Tuesday just to make sure they don't pull a fast one on you. The time and place are August 3 at Chicago's Grant Park and will be lasting three days. Expect Sony to be teasing PS2, PSP, and PlayStation 3 fans with their exclusive line up of games, plus performances by artists to be revealed by April 12. So if you haven't registered yet at Lollapalooza.com, now's a good time before the site gets swamped with early birds! So don your feathers and glide over to the site, chat with other Lolla fans and make your suggestions on what you'd like to "see, hear, eat, feel, drink, buy, or hug." And if that's not enough, review the past Lollapaloozas to get a sneak peek at what you think could be improved for this year's Lolla affair. |

Mature=rated games are under fire again as the Parents Television Council (PTC) is seeking to get ads for violent games off of public transport units in Portland, Oregon and Chicago.
It is well documented that some months back, Boston's MBTA trains had to cease displaying Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories ads because of pressure from concerned parents and other organizations. In the latest skirmish between parents and M-games, the PTC issued a press release together with the organization Commercial Free Childhood (CCFC) asking Denver's Regional Transport District (RTD) to bar such games from advertising on public transport that reads:In the latest mass transit controversy, the Parents Television Council (PTC) has partnered with the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood (CCFC), which led the fight against Boston’s GTA ads. The organizations issued a joint press release yesterday calling upon Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) to reject future ads for games rated M and AO. Citing ads for Vice City Stories which ran on RTD trains last Fall, the PTC formalized the request at the RTD’s monthly board meeting on Tuesday. PTC Denver Chapter Director George Robison said at the meeting: Our public transportation network serves more than half the residents of Colorado and is doing them a disservice with its tacit approval for the dangerous content in the Mature-rated video games that are advertised throughout the system. I’m here today to remind Chairman Chris Martinez and the board that they have a responsibility to act in the best interest of those who voted you into these important positions… The Denver RTD has yet to post an official statement in response to the press release. |
