Yolarry's GTA Cheat Device Pack 2.71 SE-C UMF Installer sure got you guys excited, didn't it? And it most definitely was successful. But as there have been some concerns regarding the use of USB flash0, Yolarry's tweaked with his brew a bit, this time, out of coldbird's UMF.Now, he says he's definitely confident that this GTA Cheat Device Pack 3.03 OE-C v2 does not brick your PSP. In fact, he's tried it on a clean 3.03 OE-C PSP himself. While we do trust him, we still won't be lax in telling you to be careful when installing this, or any application for that matter. Make caution and prudence something of second nature, to be sure. Anyhow, for those not exactly in the know, what this GTA Cheat Device Pack does is to help flash prx's of vcscheatdevic.prx and lcscheatdevic.prx to your precious Sony handhelds without bricking it. The instructions for installation are included in the file archive, so it would be best if you check out the Readme for it. However, he does have this warning for you: Do not try to installed both VCS & LCS cheatdevice or else the game wont function or no sound. Do not installed any other firmwares, this is only for Dark_AleX 3.03 OE-C. If you have any prx's loaded in your pspbtcnf_game.txt, this program will overwrite it! And as for his witty changelog: V2 beta - Complete redo! V1 is expired! So there. Again, do not confuse Yolarry as the author of cheat device. It's Edison Carter who did it, and Yolarry packed it. Homebrew application Paladin is getting better and better with each new release. If you've missed the first updates, Paladin is an application that will convert PSX games from PAL to NTSC format.According to developer Coldbird, Paladin modifies the VModes rather than the YPos Values. Anyway, Paladin is currently in v1.2 and a lot have changed since the previous versions. Just take a look at these changelogs: Revision 1.11

After working several times on a nameless PopStation mod, homebrew dev Coldbird now has his sights set on improving the quality of PSX titles being played on our dear handhelds. A couple of days ago, he released the first version of Paladin. To those of you who missed it, Paladin is one nifty application that allows conversion of PAL formats to NTSC. Coldbird has mentioned that these games were troubling him on POPS and so he decided to give it a look. The first version, as good as it already is, encountered minor issues with some games. Having taken notice of the problem, Coldbird immediately updated Paladin to v1.1. He maintains that the first version should work 99% of the time but if it doesn't, he added two new parameters to the new version: YFix and ScreenFix. More importantly, Paladin v1.1 now supports a helluva lot of games like Final Fantasy VII for starters. We guess that alone would make you jump up and down and get this app immediately. Lastly, please be informed that Coldbird has made the application open source so it is perfectly fine with him if you tinker with it. Good work, Coldbird. Keep 'em cool apps coming! Coldbird has just released a new application to help you get the most out of playing PSX games on your PSP using the firmware PSX emulator. And this ain't another Popstation GUI.Paladin is an application that will convert PSX games from PAL to NTSC format. According to Coldbird, in most cases it works a lot better than the popular PAL to NTSC converter, Zapper2000. Those who have known developer-speak from an early age might want to know that this is because Paladin modifies the VModes rather than the YPos Values. Coldbird would like to know which games work and which ones don't. So do drop him a word via the comments area or the forums release thread. Here's a few final words from Coldbrid: If you still experience a Screen Displacement after patching with Paladin, apply a YPos Move to 0/0 with Zapper.Keep in Mind thought that its highly suggested not to use Zapper or any other Patching Tool if its possible... only move the Coordinates to 0/0 with Zapper if needed. Just drag the file you want to be converted from PAL to NTSC over the "paladin.exe" file and it will do everything for you, no expert knowledge necessary! However, if you do have expert knowledge and would like to have a go at improving this application, then Coldbird has included the source code for you to take a peek at. In case you didn't quite catch the first release, this innocent looking nameless mod allows users to change the warning image loading screen. In simple terms, it is for you guys who can't stand the Bash/Command Prompt. Anyway, v2 now comes with ISO extraction support as well as support for compressed EBOOTs. Hmm, it seems like this little app is going just dandy and fine. Maybe it would be a good idea to give it a name, eh? But then again, there's no real problem with it being known as the little Nameless Mod of Popstation v2. Download: [Nameless Mod of Popstation v2] Download: [Windows and Linux Binary] |

Coldbirds' released a great app for those who can't stand the Bash/Command prompt. The biggest thing here is that it allows you to change the warning image loading screen - the one that says, in Coldbirds' own words, "Please read the Manual... blabla." He admits that it's actually only a simple Popstation mod, a source code if you will. Interestingly, he calls this mod "Coldbirds' own little Nameless Mod of Popstation." What does it do? To sum things up, here are its features:

MaTiAz either has a lot of time in his hands or he sure is one fast coder. After releasing VSH Rebooter PRX v0.1 just two days ago, he's back with a bumped up version of his homebrew app, a plug-in for PRX devs. The updates for this version may not be a lot but they're stiill definitely helpful, especially now that v0.2 comes with an installer (he added this because a lot of you guys were asking how-to's). So anyhoo, whaddya say we get this show on the road and bring you the all-important... Changelog:
this program comes with NO WARRANTY AT ALL, so follow the instructions so you're safe. I'm not responsible for bricks, and I doubt there will be any, except for because of user stupidity (which I doubt will happen either). Well, there ya have it. But before you go fiddling around your PSPs, know that the readme file was put there for a reason so go use it, okay? MaTiAz would like to give a shout out to "TUW, Mathieulh, kando, harleyg, Coldbird, Dark_AleX and lots of other people I've forgotten at lan.st and other places". The Unique Warrior has once again updated Power PRX, bumping it up to version 3.0. This time, he's decided to give in to a few requests and added a new config file for button combinations as well as a new brightness mode.In version 2.0, support was added for users with 1.50 custom firmware. To install this PRX on a PSP running on 1.50 custom firmware, look for the config file (usually in ms0:/psp/system/) and edit a line to the following: { loadmodule1 = "ms0:/seplugins/rebooter.prx" } If you're running 2.71 SE, all you have to do is run Coldbird's Universal Module Flasher and install the module (NOTE: This only works in XMB and will be stopped during Gaming). Alternatively, you can simply copy the files in se_plugins in the MS_ROOT/SEPLUGINS to ms0:/seplugins then activate the PRX from recovery mode. The Unique Warrior has added security to protect against memory stick corruption and bricking, but don't take unnecessary risks that could end up in brickage. Be sure to read the readme file thoroughly before installing Power PRX. Download: [Power PRX 3.0] Discuss: [Forum release thread] |

The Unique Warrior from our forums has updated his Power PRX for the PSP today, adding the option to put your PSP in standby (or sleep), powering down and restarting via hot keys as well as adding support for 1.50 custom firmware users. With this PRX, you no longer have to use that annoying power slider on the PSP (as some users find it a little flimsy and easily breakable). This app's name was changed from the 2.71 SE-C power off and reboot PRX to Power PRX reflects how much has changed in this release. Along with the addition of 1.50 as well as 2.71 SE-C support and the option to put the PSP on standby, The Unique Warrior has added security to protect against memory stick corruption and bricking (not to mention a whole host of bug fixes for both 2.71 SE-C and 1.50). As before, to install this PRX, all you have to do is run Coldbird's Universal Module Flasher and install the module, or you can copy the files in se_plugins in the MS_ROOT/SE_PLUGINS to ms0:/se_plugins, then activate the PRX from recovery mode. The Unique Warrior has today released a new PRX for all the 2.71 SE-C users that will allow you to reboot or power off your PSP in the blink of an eye - circumventing the need to use that sometimes irritating power button which takes so long to switch off a PSP.After installing this PRX, all you have to do is press HOME + Select to shut down (you'll be powered off in 0.5 sec), and press HOME + Start to cause the power LED to flash 4 or 5 times to reboot the PSP. These hot keys work whether in game or in the XMB, so make sure you don't press them by accident or you could lose your place in a game as it doesn't ask for confirmation. To install this PRX, all you have to do is run Coldbird's Universal Module Flasher and install the module, or you can copy the files in se_plugins in the MS_ROOT/SE_PLUGINS to ms0:/se_plugins, then activate the PRX from recovery mode. If you are a developer and are interested in this PRX, here's what The Unique Warrior said about this release:
