Curieux36 has once again updated his PC application for the PSP, Personal Media Manager (PMM), to version 2.93. In case some of you aren't familiar with this homebrew application, we'll give a brief description. Personal Media Manager is a PC app (again, folks, it's a PC application meant to be run on PCs) that allows users to organize PSP-compatible files like movies, music, ISOs, images, DAXs, CSOs, and other homebrew files.

From the changelog the homebrew developer provided, we can see that there have been a lot of improvements since its previous version where the PS3 movie encoding feature was added. Changes to the management of video files and images have been made in this version. The full changelog follows (as taken from PSPGen and translated via weblator):

Management of the videos:
  • Relook of the page of management of the videos
  • Posting of the videos in miniature using label
  • Correction various bugs on the encoding of the files to format PS3
  • Addition of the possibility of visualizing the videos directly starting from the software
  • Addition of prefix "PS3" on the videos encodes with format PS3 to identify them more easily
  • Addition of the button "Helps" in top on the right (with with dimensions of the cross) to post on line help (necessary connection Internet)
Management of the images
  • Addition of the button "Helps" in top on the right (with with dimensions of the cross) to post on line help (necessary connection Internet)

PMM

Don't we just love it when things are made easier for us? Arguably like the best thing since sliced bread, Curieux36's homebrew media organization application is taken up a step with another version update. Personal Media Manager v2.86 is now released.

We've been posting about PMM for quite some time now, but maybe some of you have missed the roll of entries. This app is to be installed on your PC, ok? Not on your handheld. From the name of the program itself, it allows you to organize your music, movies, images, ISOs, CSOs, DAXs, and other homebrew stuff. As for v2.86, here's the full changelog:
  • General: Addition of the firmware of Dark_AleX 3.03OE
  • ISO PSX Management: Support of compression ISO PSX (Firmware 3.03OE)
Hey, there might just be two items on the list, but they're damn well worth it all. Firmware support is where it's at!

PMM

Curieux36 sent us a note informing us that the latest version of his Personal Media Manager app is now available. PMM is very handy when it comes to organizing movies, music, homebrew applications, images, ISOs, and DAX and CSO files on your PSP.

By the way, you install this app on your PC not on your PSP. On first boot or when there isn't a connected PSP, the Personal Media Manager will scan all PSP available directories which may take a few seconds. You can go to "Path options" to manually change options and paths.

Personal Media Manager v2.85 has the following new features on its Manage PSX ISO option:
  • Displays the official name of the game and its original game ID
  • Added change display picture of PSX EBOOT
  • Fixed the bug on the display save names

OKay, we can't find an updated pic, so we decided to do this instead

Curieux36 takes it up a notch - or 0.1 of a notch to be exact - with Personal Media Manager version 2.7. Yes it is still the same PSP file management system we've come to know and appreciate, even more so now with all the stuff flying in our direction since HEN-D and SE-C, QJ staff members are literally ducking and covering every time they have to make an upload.

Okay, back to topic. Here's what Curieux36 emailed us:

Latest modification

General

  • If a new version is available on my site, the program download only update files and not full pack

Manage Savegame:

  • Corrige bugs on upload and download files (freeze)

Manage Movies :

  • Add RealMedia files support (.RM and .RMVB)
  • Add remaining time on decrypting phase (WMV, MPEG 2 and RM files)
  • Corrige the bug on display remaining time on encoding phase Manage ISO :
  • Add option to convert files (ISO, CSO and DAX) to another format (multiselect available)
  • Add option to view only one files type (ISO, CSO or DAX)
  • Add compression option on CSO convert (default 9)

Configure Path :

  • Add option to format Memory stick (with PSP and ISO dir creation)
  • Add option to scan Memory stick (scandisk)
So with 2.7, you get a whole host of media conversion and RealMedia support, scan and format MemStick options, and an autoupdater. Not bad for 0.1 of a notch. Oh, great, we gotta upload PMM v2.7 first for you to download off our DL site.

Personal Media Manager v2.6

If the new version of the Mac Content Manager Beta doesn't really float your boat - in other words, if you use Windows - then we at QJ have another media management application. The PMM team has today released version 2.6 of their popular Personal Media Manager application, which is used for organizing movies, music, homebrew applications, images and ISO, DAX and CSO files (ISO, DAX, and CSO management is a feature added in version 2.5). Here's whats been added since the last version:
  • General
    • Fixed the bug of incorrect characters appearing in the game's display name
  • Upload
    • Fixed the bug in the save game upload feature
    • Added progress bar
  • Download
    • Fixed the download save game bug
    • Added progress bar
    • Download save game form has been completely rewritten
This Media Manager is quite good - there may be quite some problems with some of the French-English translations during the installation process, once you get through this process, everything is fine. Another great addition to the arsenal of PSP Media managers in QJ's downloads area! If you do encounter some French in the program, then use your great guessing skills to figure out what they do, and abide by the basic rules of Windows applications: Ok button to the left and Cancel to the right. And by the way, check out the readme here.

Personal Media Manager 2.5. Because your MemStick's a mess inside.

Curieux36 returns to tell us about the latest in his easy, few-click management of all your PSP files. Personal Media Manager 2.5 follows up on all the previous versions we've featured with some new changes, improved localization, and added management options:

New Option/s:
  • Manage ISO, DAX and CSO files
Manage ISO, DAX and CSO files:
  • Complete management of the ISO files, DAX and CSO with copy PSP/PC or PC/PSP
  • Compress ISO files to DAX or CSO
  • Compress CSO files to DAX
  • Compress DAX files to CSO
  • Uncompress DAX and CSO files to ISO
Manage movie:
  • Corrige the bug of deleting encoding movie
  • Corrige the bug on error of encoding of some vidéos MPEG 2
General:
  • Improvement of the translation of the English version
  • Relook buttons of the English version
Configure path:
  • Add path to manage ISO
  • Add path to manage HOMEBREWS
Some dialogue boxes, especially during installation, still remain in French, but should pose no trouble if you can either infer what each box is saying (especially the usual OK/Cancel, Yes/No, and Exit buttons), or have some cursory, tres terrible understanding of the français (I knew I shuldn't have slept through my basic French classes). You can check the Readme file here, or after you install the program onto your PC.
