just opened up a new gaming website for parents. This particular
website reportedly aims to be the "video games guide for parents" and
was established due to the alleged proliferation of violent titles.John Davison is not at all a stranger to the video game industry. He used to be the editor of magazines EGM as well as the Official PlayStation Magazine for U.S. Check the full story by clicking the "read more" link below. |

The latest episode of the 1Up podcast has dropped the bomb on the rumor mill about two Square Enix franchises. Firstly, we could possibly expect more news and announcements about the fabled Kingdom Hearts prequels coming out. They've speculated about the rumor before, saying that the KH prequels would be acting like what Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core are for the FFVII universe. On a related note, Crisis Core gets a bit of mention in itself - and a hint of what to expect in the FFVII franchise's future. Shane, editor of EGM, had said something rather specific toward the last fifth of the podcast. It took a while to catch it, as it is very brief. Especially since the whole podcast runs for almost two hours, trying to catch that 5-second mention of KH is pretty tough. Right after talking about the FFVII-remake rumors sparked by the Crisis Core ending cinematic, they went off at a tangent, somehow squeezing in something about the Kingdom Hearts prequel (1:25:50 mark): The other big announcement that you should look forward to is Kingdom Hearts Zero... for PSP... among some other Kingdom Hearts Zero games for other platforms... They exchanged a couple of "Hmm..."s and "Hrrrmmm..."s by the time Shane ends his KH stint, but that's pretty much it. The way the whole thing sounds, it's as if it's only a matter of time before it gets confirmed. Meanwhile, for those keeping tabs on the FFVII-remake rumors, Shane mentions that, during the Square Enix party, they found out that Crisis Core is not the last game in the FFVII universe. So what's the next FF7 game? Could it be the remake of the original itself? Or something else entirely? Oh no, wait. Don't tell me. It's Kingdom Hearts: Crisis Core! Ha! We jest. It's up to you how you want to read into this, but for now, we'll neatly pile all of these loose strands on top of the Rumor bin. You may click the Read link below to check out 1Up's podcast. |

There haven't been much concrete word recently about Kingdom Hearts by Square Enix, making it a good nest for rumors. Just a few days ago, we've heard some people saying the crossover-filled franchise will be gracing the Wii with an exclusive installment. Now, 1UP reports that the latest EGM issue's rumor mill has something in store for KH fans.According to the gaming mag, a series of prequels may very well be in the works for different platforms. Much like Final Fantasy VII and its many iterations, if EGM's words hold true, we'll see various spin-offs similar to Dirge of Cerberus and FFVII: Crisis Core. Only a couple of Kingdom Hearts games have reached the PS2, while Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories appeared on the Gameboy Advanced. All of them were exclusives with a continuing story. A short teaser at the end of Kingdom Hearts 2 strongly implied that the next game will be set thousands of years before Sora's adventure, during The Keyblade Wars. |

Electronic Gaming Monthly, or EGM, is known for its rumors bin - and its biting and mostly unforgiving reviews. We found a thread at NeoGAF detailing the important parts of EGM's September issue. We'll skip the abysmal scores of Lair and Blue Dragon, instead, we'll give you the Metroid Prime 3: Corruption details and the issue in question's rumors bin. The lucky guys at EGM were able to preview Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The verdict? They pointed out four things in particular. More action since there is more shooting, though exploration is still a big part of the game. Also, they mentioned a "lock-on free shooting" feature. Second point is the Wii controls, they indicated that it adds to the game's experience. Third, they mentioned that the ship plays a major role in the game as players can use it as a mobile save point. Also, there were hints of aerial combat on the ship's options as well. Lastly, it was pointed out that "no Samus talking". Next up is the rumors bin. Six were mentioned for the issue, most notable perhaps is the one about the maker of Jeanne d'Arc and Dragon Quest VIII - Level 5 is going to announce four new RPGs at the coming Tokyo Game Show (TGS). It was also said that Square Enix will start remaking another RPG franchise, Dragon Quest. Reportedly, it will be starting with Dragon Quest 4 for the DS. EGM also ventured to speculate about the failure rates of Xbox 360s; apparently, Microsoft is "funneling all the best 360 parts to the elite model". They also took a shot at Electronics Arts' Def Jam, saying that the next one in the franchise will be better than Icon. Another interesting piece of info is the one about IO Interactive, devs of Kane and Lynch. According to the report, IO will be making - or is already making - a kids' game. Lastly, they reported that the next James Bond video game will be using Call of Duty 4's game engine. What do you think? For now, we'll put all of these into rumors bin until they are given official confirmation. |
