Don't like the current price points of the PSP Minis? Sony says that's not their fault. If you want to complain, complain to the publishers.

Earlier last week, a Sony rep stated that the company's upcoming PSP Minis service will not support multiplayer, DLC's and updates to reduce the development process of games. But now Sony's PSN boss Eric Lempel has clarified the issue and said that while the PSP Mini titles won't have game updates and muliplayer support in the beginning, the company is not ruling out this features in future updates.

Heads up, guys! Firmware 6.00 for the PSP has now been released by Sony. You can now download it via the Network Update. No word yet on what the changes are, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on this as we dig up more info.

Last June, Director of PSN Operations Eric Lempel broke a  lot of gamer hearts when he flat-out rejected the idea of having trophies on board the PSP. The reason was that it will be very prone to cheating, and, well, that's just not fair. Today, we're hearing somebody else from Sony talk about the matter, pretty much echoing the same thing. Not just anybody, actually. This month's bearer of PSP bad news: Shu Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios.

You guys would want to hear this. It's not the greatest of "good news" you can have -- heck, it's nowhere close being good news at all -- but it's important for you to know about it, nonetheless. Eric Lempel, he who is dubbed as the Director of PlayStation Network Operations, has set forth a final mandate on the issue of Trophies on the PSP. It's a no, simply put.

Oh, arriving "shortly", was it? Well, the definition of time seems to be a relative thing, but it doesn't matter now: the new PSP firmware 5.02 has just been released. In Japan. What does it carry? Nothing much, actually. Move along now...

Eric Lempel at the PlayStation Blog has posted a quick updated  saying that the PSP Firmware v5.02 will be available shortly. What can we expect from this update? Answer awaits you after the jump.

New information about the upcoming firmwares for the PS3 and PSP have surfaced. Well, when Eric Lempel revealed the list of features for PS3 FW 2.50 and PSP FW 5.00 yesterday, he did say it wasn't the entire changelog.

UPDATE: PS3 Firmware 2.50 is now available for downloading, folks. The changelog is shown once you start the download. Nice.

This just in! A PSN EU community leader has confirmed that the PlayStation Network will experience a downtime tomorrow due to system maintenance. Ok. Fair enough. It sounds pretty tame as PSN updates go (it's not the first time we've heard of a downtime), so... what makes this announcement exciting, really? How did we get from "downtime tomorrow" to "FW updates going live"? Let's review the facts, shall we...

We just got word from PSN director Eric Lempel via the PlayStation Blogs, and he's listed the features we can all expect in the upcoming system firmware updates for the PSP and PS3. Some of the previously rumored or speculated features are now confirmed: direct access to PSP Store, PS3 bluetooth headset support, in-game screenshots, and my oh my, some homebrew functions made "official".
