Now how about that? An FTP server that fits into your back pocket. Homebrew developer Zx-81 tossed an update our way for PSP-FTPD that hikes up the compatibility bar for open firmwares in the 3.xx range (3.xx OEs). Like the past revisions of PSP-FTPD, version 0.4.0 will allow users to utilize their PlayStation Portable's WiFi access to transfer files from the PSP to another network node (e.g., TFTP server) and vice versa. For optimal results with PSP-FTPD, Zx-81 recommends FileZilla for Windows users and gFTP for Linux users. And since the release of version 0.3.7, Zx-81 has made the following improvements (taken from the readme file): Version 0.4.0

PlayStation Portable homebrew developer califrag has informed us that the server application for the skyPSP Webcam Suite has recently been released on our PSP Development Forums. According to califrag, the server application essentially turns users' PSPs into actual webcam servers. It uses a GoCam! or ChottoShot to upload images via FTP to a specific destination. The images can then be viewed online, just like a real webcam. Speaking of the GoCam! and ChottoShot accessories, users don't actually need either of these to run the client application which we covered in a previous post. For the server version however, either of the two accessories are required. For more information, please click on the Visit link below. Califrag has released the first version of skyPSP. This application is essentially a Webcam Client and Server for the PSP. The developer has stated that this is a work in progress, and as of this version, the webcam server has not yet been fully implemented. Regardless, it's worth a look because this homebrew has a lot of potential. If you plan on using this program, you will need to have either the ChottoShot or GoCam and have an FTP Server already set-up. Another thing you should know is that the entire program was written in C and does not use the HTML or the PSP browser in any way. Be advised that if you're trying to access a non-functioning webcam or one posting an image larger that 640x480, then the program will crash. So download it and try it out. The developer didn't include any documentation with the program, so here are the controls of the application:

PSP homebrew developer Poison_xtreamlua dropped by the QJ.NET Forums earlier to announce the release of Heavy Downloader. This release is an improved version of the File Downloader application that was released earlier. Heavy Downloader will enable users to download multiple files from multiple urls at once. Before you get started on using heavy downloader, however, take note of these important issues (quoting Poison_xtreamlua's post):

PSP Xerver is a new application built by SnYpEr WoLf to combine a PSP portal with a web server. It's based on the Windows program called Xerver, which is a free FTP and HTTP server. He does mention some current issues with it, but for those willing to test it, it does seem like it's easy to install, and even easier to use for those accustomed to homebrew and installing stuff on their PSP: The only instructions are to mainly just install Xerver on your PC then run it, then run the portal on your psp which will redirect you to the server. Unfortunately right now, for some reason, i can't seem to find a way to let a person input their own out IP into the portal... sort of like PSPFTP. Download: PSP Xerver Visit: PSP Development Forum |

Luiz's program is actually based on ZX-81's PSPFTPD for fw1.5, except that with the WiFile Transfer, 3.0 OE users will now also be able to join in on the remote-file-transfer fun (sans the cables of course). So far there's only one known bug in WiFile Transfer: "Exiting without close FTP connections make homebrew freeze." Changelog:

Homebrew dev spike_132000 over at our forums just told us about this simple but very likable app he developed, with help from fellow homebrew dev Hoagie. It's titled PSPFTP, and it's basically an FTP utility tool that allows you to browse your PC's contents from the comfort of your portable. Much like PSP-VNC, this app will need WiFi support for it to kick in, though spike_132000 tells us the app is compatible with firmwares 2.00 to 3.03, 2.71SEA-B'', 3.02OEA-B, and 3.03OEA-B. It should also work with custom firmwares, so guys who've been keeping close tabs on Dark_AleX's 'brews may want to give this app a shot. As always, we strongly advise the guys to view the README in the bundle for the full details. We thank spike_132000 for the effort, and hope the dude can cook up something that'll make this app even handier - like an update for compatibility with Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-C, perhaps? Kudos, dude! According to Luiz, he based his work on Zx-81's PSPFTD, which was originally meant for 1.5 firmwares. He also says that PSP WiFile Transfer will benefit developers who use WiFi WPA cryptography protocol and DHCP. Since the program can work with 3.03 OE-B, you can definitely call this the beginning of a great new app. Why do we say "beginning?" Well, it's a debut, so expect some bugs here and there. Furthermore, the actual release lacks a readme, which makes it a bit more daunting for newbies to PC-to-PSP wireless connectivity. He does mention some basic installation instructions on his site though: The PSP WiFile Transfer is made at OE firmware rules, then it run in user mode and because of this its cant have risk to brick your PSP. The homebrew must be placed in GAME folder, not in GAME150 like old ones. Perhaps some enterprising soul can help him out with making the next release even better? Send some comments and technical suggestions his way and let him know you support his project. Download: [PSP WiFile Transfer v0.01] |

PSP homebrew dev Cpasjuste, who also gave us 2.71 SE-B VSH Overclocking module, has released a port of PSP-FTPD originally created by PSPKrazy, picked up by Zx-81 which he modded to work as module under the 3.03 VSH. It's called VSH FTPD Module 1 for DA 3.03 FW. It's an FTP server that will run under the VSH when launched with the updater icon from the PSP menu. How to install and use:
Please refer to the readme file before you use this application. Or in the words of Cpajuste: THE MODULE WILL BE FLASHED TO YOUR PSP. WHILE THIS HAS BEEN TESTED AND SHOULD BE SAFE, THIS IS CAN BRICK YOUR PSP. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Download: [VSH FTPD Module 1 for DA 3.03 FW] Discuss: [Forum Release Thread] |
