Flash Agent The last time we heard any news of Hallo007 or the Flash Agent homebrew application was back in April with the release of version H1. Now, in case the guys here are eagerly awaiting word on this app, we picked up a teaser over at Hallo007's blog that's announcing a new version under development, dubbed Flash Agent "The Return."

The screenshot on the right side is the only clue we've got regarding the author's latest project. Hallo007's apparently going to be gone for the next two weeks, which leaves us guessing at what this latest installment will do for the PSP, aside from its ability to let users change their gameboot, flash their default settings, and clear up their flash chip. Stick around in case we pick up more info on this preview; look forward to this app's eventual release.

Kudos to CodesRCool for letting us in on this big news!

Sony PSP - Image 1Shortly after releasing Flasher XMB v0.1 for use among the PSP community, Test30's dropped by the boards once again to announce the release of another PSP homebrew. This particular application is named Eraser Flash v0.1, and, as its name implies, is a tool for helping clear up to 2.7 MB of space in your PSP's flash chip; by comparison, QJ.Net Forum resident antonylf notes that Flash Agent clears up to 2.5 MB.

Given that this is a first release (and given the bundle doesn't have a README), we strongly advise first-time users to visit test30's thread over at the QJ.Net Forums for proper instructions - mishandling flash applications can and will lead to bricked PSPs. With that said, we thank Spanish-speaking test30 for going through the pains of explaining this application in English. Once again, we advise readers to take extra care in installing this app - enjoy!

Flash Agent H1 by Hallo2007 - Image 1It took a couple of weeks for Hallo007 to release the next version of his Flash Agent, but now we've come to today: Flash Agent H1 with its USB support and improved security, among other things.
  • Graphics update: deleted images, new arrow, deleted menusound
  • Fixed bug in showing time
  • possible to view free FLASH1 space
  • added credits, added usb mode
  • possibility to flash/recover impose.prx, possibility to rflash/ecover impose.rsc
  • improved file check (security)
  • entring a folder in file browser is back FAST
  • in OK you see now the timer counting down
  • RECOVERY MENU is really clear now
  • RCO menu is really clear now
  • POSSIBILITY to copy folders in file browser (files were already possible)
  • possibility to delete folders in file browser (only possible with empty folders) (files were already possible)
  • new xmb sound (remix of the previously one)
  • fixed bug for flashing photo_plugin.rco (security)
  • updated flash security
As the homebrew app allows you to change some XMB default settings, flash gameboots, and clear up your flash chips, please be warned that this could potentially brick your system. There are a couple of README files included in the download below: one for the changelog (and full version history), one for controls, another for supported files, and one about its WiFi functions. Make sure you read all of them if you don't know what your doing. For those looking forward to the next version, here's what he the developer has in mind:
  • possibility to preview gameboot
  • THEME MAKER - meaning : gameboot.pmf , ltn0.pgf , and other custom files packed with theme maker and possible to flash (so it's one file ), so you can share them to other people very easy

Flash Agent - Image 1New months mean new beginnings, and in hallo007's case, an upgraded Flash Agent F5. The application's recent versions were well-received for their ability to clear flash chips, change gameboots, and flash default settings; now comes F5 with these latest changes:
  • Possibility to flash/recover savedata_plugin.rco
  • Possibility to flash/recover photo_plugin.rco
  • Possibility to flash/recover premo_plugin.rco
  • File check , checks extension is for file (security)
  • Auto recheck flash0 space after flash (security)
  • Checks memory stick space before firmware dump (security)
  • Possibility to see free memory stick space under file browser
  • Possibility to delete only the gb3s1518.bwfon (should fix monster hunter problems)
  • Public adhoc files beta test (I can't know it works , so if you want to test it , no brick change)
The Readme's missing from the bundle, so be sure to visit the PSP forums first before using the application to ask around (in case you have no idea what the Flash Agent does). The release forums also provide extra information, both from the author and other veteran coders. We thank hallo07's effort in keeping Flash Agent updated. Enjoy!

Sweet Blue - Image 1

There can never be too much XMB themes out there for your PSPs, huh? And of course, we welcome with open arms every homebrew development that comes out for that wonderful handheld, be it big or small.

So, we have for you today Keefurxxcore's "Sweet Blue" XMB theme to kick away those blue days away. Yeah, obviously it's blue. And there's no contesting it's sweet. According to him, he used flash agent to flash, and svc capture plugin for the screenshot. However, please do note that this is only workable for custom firmwares below 3.10. So if your firmware is 3.10OE, don't even push it, lest you brick your PSP.

slick black theme - Image 1

Want to customize your PSP icons? Then this application is just right for you. Created by Buddy4pioint0, here is a set with some ready made icons, some of which were made by him in Paint and Photoshop.

Now, he's got a few important instructions that you guys would have to take note of to fully enjoy this app. For one, all the icons are already all in the folder attached to the file, plus a 3.03 top menu plugin so you don't have to put it together yourself. And then some more. Check them out:
  • The topmenu plugin rco already has update firmware hex edited to reboot PSP and usb connection hex edited to connect to PC
  • comes PSP updates instead of instruction manual
  • For it to actually reboot your PSP you'll have to install the PSP rebooter in the custom theme pack 4
  • And for it to actually bring you to PSP updates instead of the online instuction manuals you will have to use flash agent and change it
Anyway, that's not all there is to know about the Custom Icon Set. So for you to find out more about it, make sure you go check out the Readme.

Now that the customary, red-texted reminders are mentioned, we give you the download link. We here at QJ thank Jimmey for the tip!

PSP - Image 1A few days back, we first featured PSP Nikos and his compilation of the best PSP themes available, so as you guys could download it once and you'll have plenty of options in the future. He is a pretty efficient guy and this next tidbit we're gonna share with you proves that he is really committed to this project.

PSP Nikos informed us that he has released the Custom PSP Theme Pack 3, which is an update of the earlier release. He mentions that old custom PSP pack could be deleted and this one right here could replace it. Here are some of the things you could expect in this pack:
  • More Gameboots [About 10 - 15 added]
  • More Bootsounds [About 5 - 10 added]
  • Flash Agent v2 included
  • Deleted PS3 intro [Too big and poor quality]
  • Wi-File transfer added
  • More XMB waves [Including PS3 thin wave]
  • Custom Xmb waves and wave creators (including hex editor)
  • Xmb Fonts X-Flash (for 3.02oe and below)
  • PSP reboot & shutdown instead of network update
  • PSP version customiser
  • PSP file management Icons Gameboots
  • .pmf creator guide Bootsounds Backgrounds
Now that's some package! He would also want to take this opportunity to thank ALL PSP programmers for their hard-work and QJ.net (you're welcome). Anyhow, the download link is right down there and if you encounter any problems feel free to speak out in our comments section. Have fun and enjoy!

Update: PSP Nikos asked us to put up the smaller .zip file of the Custom PSP Theme Pack, so here it is. Enjoy, folks!

  • Dump menu runs at 333mhz
  • If you go out dump menu , cpu back setted to 222mhz
  • Possibility to flash system_plugin_fg.rco =custom battery pictures
  • Possibility to get the original system_plugin_fg.rco back

  • Start up is faster
Our customary red-texted warning that flashing may brick your PSP aside, remember that this flasher app works on either firmware 3.03 OE and 3.10 OE only. Also be reminded to check out the bundle's README for further details, and the forums release thread for hallo007's step-by-step guide to using this app. We thank the man for his update, and compliment him on the logo - it looks wicked.
