Folklore PSP in development, PS3 build on show at GC Leipzig - Image 1This next one should be a total surprise for most, if not the whole video game industry. We learned today, through online site Kikizo, that the much-anticipated PlayStation 3 title Folklore will have a PlayStation Portable version. The news was spilled towards our direction by Sony Game Producer Bill Ritch.

While Ritch was reluctant to elaborate on Folklore PSP, he mentioned that video game creator Kouji Okada will be heading the development team in charge of the PSP build. Okada is the same guy behind RPG Shin Megami Tensei.

This really is exciting development for the PlayStation community. A direct port is not at all bad but we can't help but wonder if developer Game Republic will be implementing some sort of connectivity for both versions. When asked about this, Ritch refused to comment.

The producer, however, did say that Folklore for the PS3 will be making an appearance at this year's Games Convention at Leipzig. As always, updates as we get them!

Folks Soul for the PS3 - Image 1The details are a bit murky at the moment, but the concept is cool enough to warrant a report on. Apparently a Japanese retailer's listing of the PlayStation 3 Folks Soul details several things about it that are intriguing. Aside from things like 720p video output and Dolby Digital Live sound output, the game also has something called "PlayStation Portable Linkage."

Sadly, there is no word yet on how the link with the PSP is set to work or if it is even gameplay related.

Aside from the PSP connection, the game is also set to make use of the tilt-sensing capabilities of the SIXAXIS during ground based beat-em up combat. Famitsu reports have revealed that after you've grabbed opponents using the R1 button, shaking the SIXAXIS will allow you to toss and move around your foes.

We'll keep you updated as soon as more details on the game is made available. Folks Soul by Game Republic is set to be released in Japan on June 2007.
