New games - Image 1According to the retailer information that GameSpot managed to sniff out, mid-June will see a release of a plethora of video games for all consoles. While most titles do not scream BIGTIME, there are some titles worth waiting for, like Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 2 (for PlayStation2) and Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree - admit it, you did love hearing Dr. Lobe's appreciative squeaks whenever he presented you a medal in the DS Big Brain Academy. There's also Xbox 360's Tenchu Z and Prince of Persia Classic.

Nintendo seems to be on a gold streak recently, what with Nintendo hitting goldmines with the Wii and the strange but lovable DS. Sonic can be seen with his trademark gold rings in Virtual Console for this week; Golden Axe as well as the NES classic Lode Runner (where you collect gold while avoiding enemies, remember?) are also now available in the Virtual Console. But Microsoft is not to be outdone, they've also got gold - as in golden sand - in Xbox Live's Prince of Persia.

Without further ado, here's the listing of the games to be released within the period of June 11 to 15, 2007:

(Released JUNE 11):
  • Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (Wii)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Wii)

packshot - Image 1The last time that we heard anything about this game was a couple of weeks ago when rumors started flying, stating that Asphalt: Urban GT 2 for the PSP had been cancelled.

Well, it's time for those doubting Thomases out there to stop, as Ubisoft and Gameloft have now made it completely clear that all systems are GO for this racing game. In fact, they stated in their latest press release the date that fans will have to look out for: March 16, 2007 - that is, if you happen to be in Europe. US players will have to wait until May.

A port of the DS game of the same title, Asphalt: Urgan GT 2 still promises to deliver to PSP owners the same game quality which has made it successful on the DS. Also, just like the DS version, the port will feature 44 licensed vehicles (Ducatis and Lamborghinis included), and 28 tracks which were inspired by real locations. The ability to customize your ride is, of course, present, and this is key if you want to successfully go through the 10 gameplay modes and 62 championships which the game has to offer.

Also, you'll never have to play alone, as the title supports up to four players on ad hoc mode. There, you can try to outrace your opponents in either Single, Championship, or Cop Chase modes.

Oh, and let's not forget that the Pussycat Dolls "will show up frequently to encourage the player," while music from Moby plays in the background.

HandheldGamesIndustry reports that OneNine Studios, a new development team comprised of veterans from Activision, Vicarious Visions, Gameloft, Digital Eclipse, and Kush Games are currently focusing on  the development of handheld and mobile development.

The developer already has a deal to create a mobile game with GoPets. GoPets has an online gaming/social networking community that boasts over 500,000 registered users.

A company statement reads: "We are looking to expand into DS and PSP development, as well as games for the web/downloadable and Xbox Live Arcade markets."

We'll update you if any more word on their plans for the DS or the PSP is made public.
