PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1It's leaner than the past couple of weeks' hauls, but we did see some great homebrew releases this week. After a long time of inactivity, Yoshihiro burst right back onto the homebrew scene with a work-in-progress showing of his 5.50 debug firmware for PSP-1000s. OK, not really a release but it's a start. Homebrew gaming, meanwhile, was mostly dominated by one update after another for Light Cycle 3D, a beautiful-looking 3D homebrew game that brings Tron's light cycle racing to the PSP in 3D. PSP Homebrew Weekend Warrior - Image 1This week's crop of PSP homebrew was headlined by the release of GENyUS's custom firmware 5.50GEN-A. This new CFW supports all the functions of the official firmware 5.50 along with a couple of not-so-official features. We also saw some updates for great homebrew games like Apollonia and Wagic as well as for homebrew apps like the Custom Firmware Enabler. Captain Blood, IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey announced for consoles - Image 1One of Russia's most distinguished game developer and publisher, 1C company, has announced two new game projects that will be their first on the next generation consoles. The two games are based on Captain Blood novels and the successful IL-2 Sturmovik flight combat simulation series.  Both are now heading to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (to North America with help), but even handhelds will feel some love as well.
