Here's the latest homebrew game from RealTechVR as announced by genevois over at QJ.NET PSP Development Forum. The name of the game is Freeesh and is about evolution and the origins of life. Some forum members have commented that this is reminiscent of flOw and we can't help but agree. At the beginning of the game, players are given a small molecule. You must allow this molecule to grow by feeding it other molecules and by protecting it from bigger molecules that may eat it in turn. The rules of Freeesh are as follows as provided by the coder:

benja32 (creator of PSP Racer) over at the QJ.Net forums dropped us a line regarding a homebrew game recently released by the trio of Gibus (coding), Genevois Romuald (graphics), and Alexel (music). It's titled Panic Paradyz, where the player's goal is to guide a swarm of hearts (aka souls) through a series of obstacles. The game currently has 12 stages and 4 decorations/themes, with various power-ups to be found as you fly through each stage. Here are the controls:

The xtreamlua team (composed of Poinson_xtreamlua, genevois, and alexel) just released another game as an entry for the Xtreamlua & Gx-mod contest. This comes right after their previous homebrew game, Ukke, from just a few hours ago. This time around, things get more psychedelic with Awaker. It's just a demo, mind you, and a game coded in Lua. However, that doesn't mean it's utterly bad. Fact of the matter is, it's quite well done and addicting as it is. The object of the game is simple (as most addicting games tend to be): reach the finish line before your opponent. You control the black box by holding Right on the D-pad. If you keep it held even before the level starts, your enemy will get a head start, so you better keep your thumb away from the button until the go signal. Bonus orbs also drop from time to time, and if you manage to catch them, your speed increases. Now of course, the race has a catch. In every level, there are towers that emit "static fields." If you find yourself within these fields, it'd do you good to stay put. Moving in a static field will instantly transport you back to the start. Think of it as some sort of "Red Light, Green Light" game. This demo version has six levels available with two modes - normal and expert. For the final release though, Poison_xtreamlua promises nine levels. Download: Awaker demo Visit: PSP Development Forum |

The guys at Xtreamlua are on a roll! Earlier we featured Poison_xtreamlua's release of developmental tool ReglePSP, now the developer's back at our forums dropping us a few lines about PSP homebrew game Ukke - a project of Xtreamlua team members milfrousse (code), genevois (graph) and alexel (music). Personally, I think Ukke best exemplify what homebrew games should be. Not only are the designs unique, the gameplay is like nothing I've ever seen/played before. Just how unique is it? Well for starters the player controls a shuriken (the star-shaped knives ninjas use) which you have to navigate through what Poison calls as "waves". When these waves appear, the player needs to transfer to a new tile to avoid them. Sounds pretty normal? Here comes the best part. The game is actually composed of two parts. First section is where you select a place where you can create a floor. After that you move to the game's second and main objective, which is to move the shuriken floor by floor without being hit by the waves. Sounds confusing? That's cause it is! And it's actually an added challenge. You really have to try it to fully understand how the game goes. Anyways, here are the basic controls:

The moment we found the homebrew game Who is on Fire?, we had to try it immediately because of some childhood dream we never got to follow. Anyway, in this game, players take on the role of a fireman and the objective is to save as many penguins as possible from a burning establishment. What you do is direct the ladders to the burning windows so that the penguins can use it to climb down the building. Take note that you won't be able to save the poor critters if the windows are still burning. Just like a real-life fireman, you have to hose down the fire before the penguins will automatically use the ladder. Who is on Fire? was created by three developers, namely section, Yan2Yan, and Genevois, over at XtreamLua.com. While this is the first time that we're covering this game, this is actually the third version of Who is on Fire?. The previous versions have been included in the download package below.
