It's not even released yet and Bioshock's already the most requested game on GameFly for the week ending August 6. But then that's not very surprising even while its still about two weeks away from release, because it's recent scores from OXM and PC Gamer mark it even better than Halo 2.

The Darkness is finally losing its grip as heavyweight champion as it moves over to fifth place. It declines with a dignified air as it's the only survivor left on the chart from July 2.

The Wii's most wanted games are less erratic than the 360's. Predictably, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption took a prime spot in second place. Mario Strikers Charged rises to first place following its release while Resident Evil 4 drops to fourth place.

The PS3 seems to be experiencing an upheaval as well as Lair takes first place and Ninja Gaiden Sigma drops to third place. Heavenly Sword is getting some early attention in fourth place.

Video Games Live - Image 1

The student body of Yale University will be getting smothered with some Video Games Live loving on March 31, in cooperation with the Yale Symphony Orchestra. VGL's on-going tour (with sold out tickets at its wake) hits the academic campus by 8 p.m., but not without some pre-concert festivities. Special events served on the side of the VGL performance include a video game industry educational panel scheduled a day before the concert.

Entitled "Video Games - Past, Present, and Future," the panel is open to the public without any charge. And dropping by for the said talk would be the industry's iconic composers like Lorne Lanning (OddWorld Inhabitants), Tommy Tallarico (Metroid Prime), and Jack Wall (Myst III, Mass Effect). Now, for the show's date itself, from 6 - 8 p.m., they will be hosting cosplay contests, playable games, and gaming competitions (Guitar Hero II and Halo 2).

Ok. On with the concert proper: the show starts at 8 p.m. at Woolsey Hall. One of the biggest numbers for this show would be VGL's Castlevania arrangement. It's going to be played by Martin Leung on Woolsey Hall's 104 year old 3-story pipe organ. Could you imagine hearing Castlevania on that?!

The best of the best

Game Politics put up a unique find that might help immortalize some of the most dedicated players of all time. According to their report, the Guinness Book of World Records will be putting up another videogame-related section with records for players who've picked up achievements for determination, high scores, and long life.

As you can see from the shot above, there are some new records being put up along with the quintessential high scores list that remains mostly the same from its previous incarnation 20 years back. Cody Miller's legendary speed run through Halo 2 on the Xbox is now listed, as well as a record for the guy who pulled off a three-hour speed run through the PS2's GTA: Vice City.

The records also hold some noteworthy people who've managed to get high scores in multiple games, such as Greg Sakundiak's records for Dragon's Lair, Tag Team Wrestling, and Twin Cobra, and Doris Self, our dearly departed mistress of all things Q*bert who got her place in Guinness for being the oldest competitive gamer to date.

Hopefully, they'll include some new categories next year, including "Person with the highest gamerscore ever" and "Most annoying leetspeak phrase used in online games." We'll be betting on "STFU Noob," for that last entry.

QJ Clans Join Now

Our forums grow everyday, in the amount of users and changes. With the recent additions made by Mysticales on the forums (many more to come as well), we have decided to start up an organize tournament section. Along with this section will come our very own clan section! So, I'm proud to announce that our forums will be the breeding grounds for our clans (QJ).

As of today, we have only organized one clan. We have many more planned clans to be formed for several different games and platforms. We will be creating clans for almost every online multiplayer game. Even though clan match is taken away in Halo 2, we will still form a clan, as well as other popular games hopefully (UT2K) and other games. If the game doesn't support a clan system and you would like a clan in that game, we will do our best to organize one. For example, Mario Kart does not support clans, but does support custom logos. This will be our way of identifying ourselves (custom logo for the clan).

So, if you would like to help start a QJ clan, please stop by our forums. We will be doing our best to organize clan areas on the forums for us to discuss and suggest clans this week. Over the next few days we will be modifying the forums to help us organize these clans and will set guidelines as well.

Recently, our first "official" clan had its first "clan match". This game was none other than Socom: U.S. Navy SEALs FTB. This game has been one of the most sought-after online games for the PSP, and our clan will, hopefully, destroy everyone we face. Read about the QJ Socom clan formed by Serideth, a dedicated forum moderator, after the jump!
