PSPAfter releasing science-based homebrews PSPeriodic and its TIFF version, homebrew applications developer, Propel, came forward yet again with a rather sensitive release. The Illinois-based developer just produced a password protection program for the PSP. This application locks the PSP when booting from a cold boot. While everything was coded by Propel, PSPassword Protect uses Dark_Alex's custom firmware to run.

Before loading this application to your handhelds, we here at QJ and Propel have a couple of reminders for you guys. First, remove any other custom firmware in your PSPs as this program, as we have said, uses a specific custom firmware. And by the way, full functionality can only be enjoyed when using a 1.5.

Moving on, run the three flashers that are included in the download. While you can delete them after use, try to keep the config file flasher as it may prove to be useful later on. The universal password is 8314. Also, be informed that the new config.txt must be in the memory stick root.

Remember, PSPassword Protect writes to the flash of your PSP and has the potential to brick it. Use it with proper care. If you are not familiar with this stuff, we strongly suggest that you catch on with your readings first through our previous posts. While Propel mentioned that he's tried this app on his PSP, he claims that there is still a chance something unfortunate could happen.
