LucasArts and Bioware Corp. have sent word that they have entered an agreement to create what appears to be a new game. No further details were announced, although the two promised that more information for this new product will be released in the near future. LucasArts president Jim Ward had this to say regarding the partnership: LucasArts has a deep commitment to developing compelling stories and characters for the unique medium of interactive entertainment, and we have been searching for a developer that shares this value. We found this in BioWare. Through our previous collaborations, we know that BioWare has an impressive ability to blend gripping stories with technological advancements, and we believe that our upcoming product will deliver an experience that will span the traditional boundaries of video game entertainment. We know what you're thinking (nope, we ain't Jedi) - could this new project possibly be the Star Wars MMORPG that BioWare's been rumored to be working on as far back as last year? It's a little too early to tell at this point, but given that the original Star Wars Galaxies MMORPG (developer by Sony Online Entertainment) has been struggling lately due to its past updates, we imagine this news leaves the longtime fans with a sense of new hope (pardon the pun). On the other hand, we could also be looking at a new non-online RPG, hopefully within the lines of a KOTOR sequel. It might be a little redundant, though, given that LucaArts is already working on Star Wars: The Force unleashed for the Sony PSP, Sony PS3, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360. We'll let you know when the pair releases more info. |

Sony PlayStation Portable owners might be wondering what makes Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Sony PSP, Sony PS3, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360) special as far as the platform is concerned. To address that, the people over at LucasArts took the time to talk about it and showed us a neat video previewing some of the great features found only in the Sony PSP version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Have a look:
As you probably heard, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lets you play as the bad-ass secret apprentice of Darth Vader sent on an intergalactic mission to destroy all the remaining pockets of Jedi resistance. The plot is set at the time between the prequel and classic Star Wars trilogies, creating some very interesting revelations. The Sony PSP version will share some unique locations not to be found in other versions along with what LucasArts calls a "pick up and play" nature which makes the game friendly for people who enjoy their gaming in quick bursts while on the move. Add to that the over-the-top Force powers and you've got a promise of a riveting story dashed with insane combat. We're hoping that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lives up to its billing. |

Here's a rather short gameplay video for the newly-released PlayStation Portable title Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. The clip itself was named "Killing Spree" and we get to see what user-created characters go up against the well-trained swarm of clone troopers.
This new game from developer Rebellion Developments and publisher LucasArts has a lot going for it. Aside from allowing players to come up with their own characters, Renegade Squadron also presents some of the most notable characters from the Star Wars universe such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Han Solo, and Jedi master Kit Fisto. Staying true to the vast universe of Star Wars, Renegade Squadron is also home to many features like 16 player infrastructure online play, customization options, different maps and online leaderboards. |

The developers over at Rebellion Developments and LucasArts have just updated their official blog for the video game Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. This time, we get to see a video clip featuring one of the Jedi Masters, Kit Fisto, who was trained in the Jedi arts by Yoda himself.
To those whose Star Wars knowledge and experience are just limited to the movies and a couple of other video game titles, you might be wondering why Kit Fisto is such a big name in the whole Star Wars universe. Well, his background story is rich enough and dark enough that he once let go of his violent behavior and was transformed into a Dark Jedi. In this video, we get to see Kit Fisto wielding a lightsaber against the droid army. We're not certain if this is the only weapon this Jedi Master can use in the game. Just so you know, this specific Jedi Master is one of the few individuals who was able to master the lightwhip - one of the most dangerous weapons ever, even more deadly than Darth Maul's double-bladed lightsaber. Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron is scheduled to ship to retail stores on October 12. |

In the movie Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, one of the most crucial ships used by the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Endor is the heavily-armed fighter B-wing. Its array of weapons include ion cannons, proton torpedoes, and laser cannons. It was actually designed by the squid-looking admiral, Ackbar.
Anyway, the same ship will be available to fans of the PSP title Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron as we can see in the video clip below. This really is exciting as it provides a good substitute to the Millennium Falcon during those times when its hyper drive engine is leaking or detached on purpose. Just watch and enjoy the video below because it will take a while before you get your hands on Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. It was announced both by LucasArts and Rebellion Developments that it will be released in North America on October 9 and in other territories on October 12. |

A lot of people are excited about Rebellion Development's Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, and with good reason. The developers held a massive Q&A on their developers blog and it turns out that the game is going to feature a lot of things that fans of the Star Wars universe will appreciate. Lead Designer of the game Mike Rosser said that the single player parts of the game will be using the full 333mhz of the PSP. He noted though that it is not possible to use the full power of the processor in multiplayer because of the power consumption of the Wi-Fi hardware, but it'll still have a smooth framerate. Speaking of multiplayer, K.C. Coleman, the Assistant Producer from LucasArts has given word that the game will not have pre-made character classes unlike the previous Battlefront. To simplify things though, you can create your custom character and have the game automatically use it as default for all multiplayer games. In addition to this, players can enter the customization part of the game right before starting a battle. Jedi will still be playable in the game and the developers have given word that old favorites will be in the game as well as a few new additions such as Ben Kenobi, Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto. New game modes will also allow players to experience playing these heroes in multiplayer so that's something that gamers should watch out for. There were so many questions the developers answered that we couldn't possibly hope to cover all the details in one post. If you'd like to read the rest, click on our Read Link. Before we go, we'd like to put a long standing rumor to rest: George Lucas will not be a playable character in the game! |

Another exciting part of Star Wars Battle front: Renegade Squadron is the fact that once it launches, there will be a special deal to get it with the anticipated redesigned PSP bundled in. Talk about a double whammy. |
