Sony PSP Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops - Image 1 Konami Digital Entertainment's Kojima Studios division has just announced that Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus (Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops+) for the Sony PlayStation Portable has just gone gold and is currently in its UMD manufacture stage. MPO+ is set for a North American release on November 13, 2007.

Konami describes MPO+ as the stand-alone multiplayer addition to the acclaimed 2006 Sony PSP release Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops (MPO) which follows the story of Big Boss and his FOX Unit in the events that took place after Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Konami in states in its press release:

MPO+ includes a new single player mode, "Infinity Mission," in which players must advance from start to finish through increasingly difficult stages, gathering weapons and recruiting high-level comrades to build up their units.

It was also mentioned that "additional multiplayer modes such as the Shooting Range to test player's shooting skills in a deathmatch environment and a Training Mode to practice and sharpen their game controls will challenge even the most experienced tactical fighters."

Metal Gear Series fans will be happy to know that some of the elements included in Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops+ will bring about nostalgic bliss. Among the maps is an updated version of the REX hangar from the original Metal Gear Solid where Solid Snake and Liquid Snake fought their epic battles. Among the characters recruitable in MPO+ will be Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty hero Raiden as well as Old Snake from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Those who are thinking twice about spending for an updated version of MPO will also appreciate the affordable price point set by Konami Digital. MPO+ will sell for a suggested retail price of US$ 19.99 to make this one a sweet deal.

TGS 2007: Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops 2 coming soon - Image 1

We know that Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops+ has yet to landfall in North America (November 13), so this bit of news coming straight from the Makuhari Messe in Chiba City should interest fans of Metal Gear Solid. The PlayStation Portable title will soon get a sequel, as blogged by Ashley Wood himself - the concept artist to be involved in the game's development.

Wood has worked with Konami Digital and Kojima before, so this probably would be a cakewalk for the Australian illustrator. Details on the game's features and facets were not reported as of press time, and clues as the the game's continuation or focus of story was not revealed either.

We hope to get more information regarding the Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops 2 game while the Tokyo Game Show continues on to the weekend, so keep your eyes glued to this space for developments.

Silent Hill
franchise fans with Sony PSPs better brace themselves because we've got a big one incoming! Konami Digital has fielded in the Tokyo Game Show 2007 trailer of Silent Hill Origins and it looks very, very good.

As you can see, the trailer starts off with some of the best-looking pre-rendered sequences we've seen for the PSP in quite a while. Silent Hill Origins protagonist Travis Grady is seen here driving his truck through the infamous town. He sees an apparition of what seems to be Alessa and hits the brakes. Other previews are then depicted using a PSP-view scheme. The dark, gritty background song helps establish the mood that this iteration of the famed survival horror series aims to project.

It won't take long before Silent Hill Origins locks its chilly grip on PSP owners everywhere. Early November marks the launch date of this anticipated title, making for a nice, extended Halloween for those who dare play it.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - Image 1It's a no-brainer that Konami Digital's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be one of the most anticipated titles in the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. We've seen trailers and developer demos of the Sony PlayStation 3 exclusive, and the project has blown us away every time. For the upcoming shindig, Konami lets fans get a hands-on for the first time ever.

That's right, a playable demo has been announced for MGS4, which will hopefully give us all feedback on how the controls work this time and how other fans like new gameplay elements such as the Octo cam. A bit of kick-ass CQC would also be nice.

In addition, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops+, Metal Gear Online, and Metal Gear Solid 2 Bande Desiree will be shown off during TGS 2007. MGSPO+ is an expansion to the original Sony PSP game with new playable characters, Metal Gear Online is a stand-alone PS3 online-only game, and MGS2 Bande Desiree is a graphic novel based on the series' unfolding plot.

The popular Silent Hill series will take new horrors to the PSP as well, with Silent Hill Origins leading the rest of Konami's PSP bunch followed by Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 titles.

Nintendo platforms will also get treats from Konami as the publisher unveils exercise games Yoga, Pilates, and Skin Basic are shaping up nicely for the Wii. The Nintendo DS, on the other hand will showcase the newly-announced Time Hollow. Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party, Big Head Baseball, and Big Head MLB round up the Nintendo Wii list.
