Developer hardhat passed by our Forums yesterday to alert us that he's got a preview out for an upcoming release of build 21 of his PSP top down 2D game, Last Call.

As mentioned, the game is a top down 2D game that features 6 playable levels, a full level editor, 3 types of collectibles, over 50 NPCs that interact with you (and even insult you if they feel like it), a sound track, and particle effects when items are gathered.

What's the game about? Well, it's a about a guy named Les who got "ambushed" by his co-workers after his recent promotion. After having one too many drinks, Les now has to go home, and you, the player sorta have to help him. This of course, is when the fun in the game begins. Watch the video at the bottom to have a better idea.

The game was programmed by hardhat and a_nub. The sounds in the game were from WernerVonBraun, meanrabbit.com, and the music was from mono211.com/modsoulbrother/. The game's Graphics was by birdman2078, hardhat, a_nub, Meyitzo, and Zion.

Nice work guys!

Connect4 - Image 1 Connect4 - Image 2

Team Sushi  (Hardhat and Meyitzo) are at it again, and while they just recently released GTA Jump v1.1 for everybody's gaming pleasure, they've also updated one of their not-so-old favorites: Connect 4.

Connect 4 ver 1.0 was one of the 16 entries of the PSP coding competition we held way back, and while we already liked this game and still do, it looks like this pair have stepped up and added in more improvements to add to this game's fun factor. Team Sushi numerates the improvements we'll be seeing in ver 1.1:
  • retries on IR send after a timeout (but don't place the PSPs less than 6" apart)
  • new nicer arrow graphic
  • new room for the game to play in
  • additional heads up display content
  • new pause mode menu
  • new secret theme room (found from the pause menu)
  • now swizzles the textures for a faster frame rate
  • new intro animation
  • new spacier sounds
The object of the game is to line up four of your colored circles vertically, diagonally, with filled boxes meaning a draw. As for controls, once again courtesy of Team Sushi:
  • Red player: left, right, and down to drop game piece.
  • Yellow player: square, circle and cross to drop game piece.
  • Use left trigger and right trigger to rotate the view.
  • In menu mode, use up, down and X to select
  • Start for the pause menu (including secret Halloween skin).
  • Select to grab a screen shot (sequentially numbered).
This version will be carrying over features of ver 1.0, such as the 3d game board, and the animation movie, so aside from the new features, jumping into the action should be quick. Enjoy!

PC4PSP Connect 4

We have here one of the sixteen entries in our very own PSP Summer Coding Competition which is sponsored by QJ and Lik-Sang. Now, we present to you HardHat and Meyitzo's homebrew entry, PSP Connect 4.

Toy ports have been popular with homebrew developers nowadays, that's why we find it as no surprise that one of our entries is a port of the popular Connect 4 game. In case you have no idea what the game is, it's a 2-player board game where players take turns in dropping discs into a vertical grid with the objective of getting four of one's own discs in a line.

The developers clearly worked hard for this game for it's not only a simple Connect 4 port, but it has an array of features not seen in most toy ports. It has features such as camera rotate, a side by side two player game, and an infrared 2 player game, among many others. HardHat did the programming and Meyitzo took care of the 3D models and the intro movie. Good job and good luck, you guys!

Later on, we would be compiling all the entries into one article, also you should watch out for the opening of our polls to see which entry is the most popular among readers. Lastly, you could also leave out your opinions, reactions and other what-nots in the comments section.
