PSPHere's an update on MiG's Overclocking Mod. For this 2.71 SE-B Overclocking module v0.7, he's gone through the stuff and tweaked it to fix the bugs that you guys have encountered. That's quick response right there.

For the improvements, there's but one major change in this release. That is, you will have to press Start + RTrigger anywhere for you to enable overclocking. So it goes just like in the XMB or in a Game. This will allow the current method of Start and Select to change the clock speed. MiG also says that if the Overclocking mod is disabled, the CPU will be returned ot its default clock of 222mhz. He is, however, willing to change this if that's what you guys would need. Anyhow, it shouldn't affect your PSP when this program is disabled.

Then comes some more reminders. He's added in ALL CPU speeds he could think of. Obviously for your convenience. But you have to be particularly patient when the cpu is in 29mhz. Pressing start and select won't do anything to the cpu speed instantly given that the CPU clock speed is so low. So there. A little patience.

Anyhow, here's but some of the bugs that MiG spotted so far:
  • Dont overclock instantly and then press Start on the photo menu, your psp will freeze, and will need rebooting.
  • sometimes you will get random lockups
  • i need people to tell me whether problems exist whilst the OC module is enabled or disabled, so i can figure out whats going off.
As for his things to do:
  • A better installer, no coldbirds installer wont work with my mod, i need to be able to flash pspbtcnf.txt and pspbtcnf_game.txt, something his installer doesnt do at the mo..
  • Config files... once i get round to doing it you will be able 2 set the cpu speed for each game, blah blah yackety yack, i'll not disclose much on this as the final plans arent sorted for it.
  • Find the OC Module Attached.
  • MAJOR PROPS TO - COLDBIRD
  • NOTE - TO INSTALL OTHER MODS LIKE THE VCS ONE, INSTALL MY MOD FIRST AND THEN USE ANY MOD THAT USES THE COLDBIRD INSTALLER, TO AVOID MY MOD BEING DELETED.
Right. So you can download the file right here, and you can also discuss it through the links below. Thanks, MiG.

PSP and Game

MiG from our forums has updated his amazing 2.71 SE-B VSH Overclocking module to v0.6 today, updating the previous version to include an important update which I think you guys are going to like. This latest version of the Dark_Alex 2.71-SE custom firmware overclocking tool should work much better with games such as the recently-release Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories when you try to access the multiplayer Wi-Fi mode, because the glorious MiG has made a number of significant updates to ensure multiplayer playability.

In the last version you could change the CPU speed between 222Mhz and 333Mhz in order to make Wi-Fi work, but take a look at these updates to see what this VSH overclocking module features:
  • 24-BIT Blitting - So much better than the last one, and will display the current clock for around 1 second, and pause the game whilst doing this.
  • Every CPU speed - we now have 333, 266, 222, 133 CPU speeds
  • START+SELECT to Change Speed - START+SELECT will cycle through the speeds it should go down the Speeds then when it hits 133mhz go back to 333mhz on the next cycle.
Want to play online with this? Simply turn the CPU down to 222mhz if you are going to host or join a game, and let the WiFi Connection be made. Then once a WiFi connection has been established, turn the CPU back up to 333mhz.

This has been tested with VCS so far, and it works flawlessly. If the game goes funny with WiFi when trying to connect at 222mhz, try putting the CPU speed down to 133mhz using START+SELECT, and everything should be fine, and then clock back up to the desired speed.

Future updates include an installer being made by Coldbird, so keep your eye on this one!

PSPThe good thing about Cpasjuste's updated Dark_Alex SE-B Overclocking Module is that it gives users options. Accordingly, PSP's can be clocked to 333Mhz, 300Mhz or 111Mhz depending on one's preference. Speaking of which, we guess everything boils down to preference, right? Whatever floats your boat man. It is in this light that developer MiG created a somewhat similar module of his own.

MiG, in our forum, admits he prefers the Devhook VSH style of changing the clock speed. Thinking a number of people would like the same as well, the U.K.-based homebrewer came up then with this release. Instead of the three speed option, this module allows users to change between 222mhz and 333mhz, simply by pressing the "select" button in the VSH. Also, the clock speed is indicated on the top left corner much like in Devhook.

Regarding installation, MiG sends out his appreciation to Cpasjuste as he patterned it from the OC module. To install this mod, just copy the folder to the GAME/GAME150 folder, then run it from the game menu. Press circle once prompted. In case you give this one a try, kindly give your feedbacks as MiG plans to further improve his 2.71 SE-B VSH Overclocking module.
