Filippo Battaglia Nanodesktop 0.3.2 screenshot - Image 1Developer Filippo Battaglia (Pegasus2000) has announced that Nanodesktop v0.3.2 is finished and ready for use. If you missed our previous coverage on this application, it is a Software Development Kit (SDK) which provides developers with a set of libraries that make it easier to code homebrew.

This latest version of Nanodesktop implements most of the additions that Battaglia previously announced including the ndCurl and ndGCurl libraries which manage network connections and file transfers as well as the ndFlite vocal synthesis engine.

In addition to this, coders will appreciate the new Media Application Program Interface (API) which allows the programmer to decode .WAV and MP3 files without using the main processor or external libraries.

Here's a list of all the changes as taken from the documentation:
  • Fixed a trouble with Virtual Keyboard (Dancol bug)
  • Introduced network support in KSU mode
  • Introduced ndCurl library for network support
  • Introduced the first gCurl job
  • Introduced EAS (Envelope Audio System) for audio support
  • Introduced Media API per Media Engine WAVE and MP3 decoding (hardware assisted)
  • Introduced ndFLite for voice synthesis
  • NanoC has a new architecture, more portable
  • Fixed troubles with fstat and time functions
  • Introduced cvAux support in ndOpenCV. Now PentLand (PCA) and EigenFaces recognition algorithms are available
  • ndHAL_WebCam has a new design, ready for future GoCam support
  • Introduced trasparent firmware control
  • Fixed a bug that caused missed passage of 64-bit LBoxCode to the LBox items
If you plan on using Nanodesktop v0.3.2, you should go over the Installation Guide PDF included with in the compressed file. That said, this SDK will undoubtedly speed up homebrew development time as it includes some very useful libraries and additional routines that developers won't have to create from scratch.
