PSP homebrew coder poisonhzkj has just announced the release of SCEP-XMB v1.7 preview 3 for the community's use. In case you're a first timer reading up on this application, SCEP-XMB is a PSP plugin that allows users to take screenshots, use their unit as a usbhost, turn off/reset their PSP, manage files and directories, adjust screen brightness and CPU speed, and configure their OE.

QJ.Net Forum resident Nightcrawler noted that the biggest observable change in this release is a fully functional stopwatch, although poisonhzkj states that more functions are forthcoming in future versions. Given the bundle lacks a file readme, here are the controls:
  • Sony PlayStation Portable - Image 1Screenshot controls:
    • Dpad + L/R: get a area
    • Dpad : move the area
  • File Manager controls:
    • Select(Triangle)
    • Select All(Square)
    • change device(R)
    • change panel(LEFT/RIGHT)
    • Excute(Circle)
    • Operation menu(L)
  • Stopwatch controls:
    • Start/Pause (circle)
    • mark down (R)
    • reset(L)
Other important details should be available at Nightcrawler's thread at the QJ.Net Forums, and over at poisonhzkj's release blog (source link). With that said, we hope the guys here enjoy this latest SCEP-XMB preview release. Keep posted in case we get wind of a full version!

SCEP-XMB was coded by Poisonhzkj - Image 1Homebrew developer Poisonhzkj just updated pet application SCEP-XMB. Well, sorta. Because, for twice in a row now, the coder's been releasing a preview of v1.7.

Basically, the plugin is most useful for usbhost game playing as it enables "scx.prx" in "vsh.txt" as well as "scx_mg.prx" in "game.txt" QJ.Net mainstay Nightcrawler listed these improvements to SCEP-XMB v1.7 preview 2:
  • Correction of some bugs (mainly had with the usbhost).
  • Addition of certain elements of sysConf (configuration of firmware OE mainly, to see Ci below for more details).
  • Capture: allows to take a capture of screen: Press on O to hide the menu of XMB-SCEP then press on O to take the screenshot. Special controls: You can recadrer the zone of the screen which will be captured: R+Flèches to increase the framework, L+Flèches to narrow it!
  • SysCtrl: allows to configure certain elements of your firmware. Under menus:
  • LCDCtrl: allows to regulate in a fine way (via a bar from 0 to 100) contrast of your PSP.
  • CPUSpeed: same manner, makes it possible to regulate the speed of the CPU in a rather fine way (by step of 10).
  • OEConfig: allows to regulate No UMD, the 150Kernel, SkipLogo, PlainMod, Boot.bin and ISOfs via Yes/No.
  • CronList (decontaminated): unknown for the moment.
  • SysInfo (decontaminated): will be able to have a detailed summary of information system.
  • FileMgr: an explorer very resembling File Assisting, you allowing to copy files since, and towards, ms, the UMD, the USB, Flash 0 and Flash 1 (let us recall however, if necessary, that the UMD is readonly).
  • Triangle enables you to select a file. While pressing on L, you arrive at a menu allowing you to copy (Copy), to move (Move), to re-elect (Rename), to remove (Delete), to change Reader (Device, allowing to pass from MS0 to UMD, Flash 0) and to retrogress (Back).
  • E-watch (decontaminated): unknown function at present.
  • SCX Config (decontaminated): you will allow to configure SCX (plugin allowing to make cheats in the plays).
  • PsPower: allowing you to put in day before (Sleep), to extinguish (PowOFF), to start again (Reboot) and to lock (Lock) your PSP.
Nightcrawler also called out to PSP users to not hesitate to report any bugs that you can find in preview 2 as all of them will be transmitted to Poisonhzkj.
