Gasp! A game actually bumped off the Mario games from the top of the charts in Europe! Will wonders never cease? Wii Fit has debuted on top in Europe, raking in almost US$ 32.5 million in its first week, making it the third largest video game release in Europe in terms of value. More in the full article.

Turns out you don't need super shiny cars to sell a racing game. At least, not according to the latest UK software charts, where Mario Kart Wii bursts into first place in its first week out, overtaking Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Aside from this, Mario Kart Wii also got more sales in its first week than if you combined all the first week sales of previous Mario titles on the Wii. Then here's hoping you like the big N, as it has once more proven that it's up to snuff in terms of bringing the bacon home. It's not unheard of for companies to conduct research to see where their customers stand regarding certain topics, such as internet use. Speaking of which, Japanese business site Nikkei.net polled consumers regarding their internet use, and the data that came back have shown interesting results. More on the numbers after the jump.

Curious to know what game sold the most in Japan during the Christmas week?

In a report made by Enterbrain on the hardware and software sales figures, Nintendo rose to the occasion by outselling their competitors in Japan with the Wii and Wii Sports. With millions of units sold for both console and gaming title, Nintendo is a force to be reckoned with for the upcoming year.

Japanese-based companies Sony and Nintendo both saw a slump in their shares today because of various economical factors that affected the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
