PSP kanji v2.2 Alhpa, by Aion - Image 1 PSP kanji v2.2 Alhpa, by Aion - Image 2

Looks like we've got an appropriate partner for the JaPSPanese app that was released earlier. Aion dropped by earlier to announce that a new build of the PSP Kanji application is ready for use. This application is a training tool for helping you learn Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana. Users can create lists of each of these Japanese characters, which are then used for practicing their pronunciation and English translation.

PSP Kanji's version 2.2 Alpha carries these latest fixes from version 2.1 back in March:
  • Changed
    • Increased maximum number of kanjis in a list, from 1024 to 4096
  • Added
    • Kanji List now support index from "Remembering the Kanji" by James W. Heisig (DL + Index ). See online documention for how to create kanji list.
  • Fix
    • Request - 1693256: When selecting any of the Katakana quizzes from the menu, the Hiragana quizzes display instead
    • Request - 1762989 / 1742852: When selecting the Quiz from traduction to Kanji, after the 1st question the quiz display the kanji instead of translation as question
    • Request - 1762967: When an entry in KanjiDic does not have any kunyomi readings the program will display kunyomi from another kanji
Make sure to view the readme file for full installation and usage instructions. Aion's apparently still working on the Linux version of PSP Kanji, in case you guys were wondering. We'll get back to you if any new builds turn up. For the moment, enjoy your download!

Courtesy of developer timwillhack (creator of the Hexaxis homebrew game) we've picked up a video demonstrating just how well Team M33's Custom firmware 3.60 for the PSP Slim handles. timwillhack notes that the video's been sped up in some spots, and other segments have been edited to keep it within YouTube's 10-minute video limit:

The author was also kind enough to post a list of applications and games that have been confirmed to work on this new CFW release. This should answer some of the more pressing questions viewers will have about possible issues with CFW 3.60 M33.

timwillhack's CFW M33 3.60 compatibility list is available in the Full Article!

PSPKanji - Image 1

Aion informed us that the PSP Kanji v2.1 file that we hosted earlier has a missing Eboot file. It's a good thing that he was kind enough to provide us with a download link for the fixed download for PSP Kanji v2.1. Go ahead and grab it for yourself. Again, if you encounter any problems, let us know through your comments.

Download: PSP Kanji v2.1 (fixed download bundle)

Sammy Fatnassi is back with an updated version of PSP Kanji in tow! Now on version 2.1, the Kanji-learning software for the PSP, now has a quiz mode for Katakana and Hiragana, quiz in both English and Japanese, plus it now has a simple menu that you could use.

Now, in case you haven't been reading on our past reports, this app will let you create Kabanji/ Hirigana/Katakana lists. It would also get you covered in the pronunciation department and will test your Japanese knowledge via the flashcard quizzes that were a staple of the app ever since it was released.

In the future, the dev plans on revamping the user interface with better graphics, add support for skins and other languages, and plans to make it available under Linux. Oh, and before you try to learn a new language, better check out the release notes that comes with the download so as you'll have a better grasp of the app. We thank Aion for the heads up!
