Season's greetings are coming in, courtesy of Zx-81. The developer has just announced the release of his special Christmas homebrew pack. Each pack contains a compilation of the dev's previous works, which ranges from homebrew applications to games, calculators, and emulators. More details await in the full article. |

Now, right after PSP aficionados had a field day, thanks to Dark_AleX's latest custom firmware release, homebrew devs are up and about once again with various useful add-ons and applications for the PSP. One such application is something from chachakoala, who revised UFOX's original PSP Content Manager v1.5 so that it can run more smoothly on the latest OE firmwares. For those who may not be familiar with PSP Content Manager, this app allows one to easily manage and transfer the content of their PSPs so that everything is more organized. On top of that, it also helps to recover homebrews, and even edit your homebrew icons and backgrounds. As for what prompted the edits, according to chachakoala, I hex-edited psp content manager 1.5 so it works even more correctly with 3.03&310 OE firmwares (original PSP Content manager used to work fine anyway). I did this because i classified my PSX games in GAME, my 1.5 hb in Game150 and my 3.10 hb (PSPFTPD) in Game310 just to keep things clear. Meanwhile, he notes the two revisions that he made for PSP Content Manager:
So, if you're ready to start using this application, then just download it via the link provided below. The pack will contain versions of PCM for firmwares 3.02, 3.03, 3.10, 3.30, and 3.40 OE. As always, remember to check the readme file right after you finish downloading, and right before you start installing. A big thank you to "whoelse" for the tip! Homebrew Developer Luis Pestana is back again as he announces an update to his PSP WiFile Transfer application. We're sure many of you guys have been enjoying this PSPFTPD-based app which allows your PSP to remote transfer files with a PC. This version introduces a couple of updates, most importantly a fix to the "close FTP" bug that was reported in its previous version:

According to Luiz, he based his work on Zx-81's PSPFTD, which was originally meant for 1.5 firmwares. He also says that PSP WiFile Transfer will benefit developers who use WiFi WPA cryptography protocol and DHCP. Since the program can work with 3.03 OE-B, you can definitely call this the beginning of a great new app. Why do we say "beginning?" Well, it's a debut, so expect some bugs here and there. Furthermore, the actual release lacks a readme, which makes it a bit more daunting for newbies to PC-to-PSP wireless connectivity. He does mention some basic installation instructions on his site though: The PSP WiFile Transfer is made at OE firmware rules, then it run in user mode and because of this its cant have risk to brick your PSP. The homebrew must be placed in GAME folder, not in GAME150 like old ones. Perhaps some enterprising soul can help him out with making the next release even better? Send some comments and technical suggestions his way and let him know you support his project. Download: [PSP WiFile Transfer v0.01] |

Update: zx81 never fails to amaze us! Within a few minutes of releasing PSPFTPD, he has now released an updated version of PSPVNC, another kickass homebrew application. It allows you to control your PC using your PSP.It seems that the DHCP bug must've been troubling both PSPFTPD and PSPVNC, since the only fix in this updated version is that DHCP bug. Apart from that fix, he has also remapped the Home button to the L Trigger + Start keys. As always, he has bundled together a 1.5 binary and the sources. The download link can be found at the bottom of this article. zx81, being the homebrew developing machine that he is, has just released an update to PSPFTPD taking it to v0.3.6. PSPFTPD by the way allows your PSP to function as a fully fledged FTP server. Yes, that's right, an FTP server! So if you're feeling lazy and don't feel like connecting the USB wire, or if you've misplaced it, you can just fire up the FTP server and connect to it using your PC.The new version fixes a lone bug related to DHCP functionality on firmware 1.5. Now if you've never tried this application, let me be the one to recommend it to you guys. Once you get used to it, it's hard to give up such functionality. And since it's a release from zx81, you can expect the source code along with the 1.5 binary. Download Link: [PSPVNC v1.2.2] Download Link: [PSPFTPD v0.3.6] |
