Bruce Lua - Image 1

Bruce Lee fans may want to let out a jolly Lee-style whoop, as homebrew developer PSPKOR announces the third release of his Bruce Lua title. For those who can't recall (it has been a while) this game is a homebrew port of the retro game released for the Zx Spectrum and Commodore 64. The object of this title for you to beat the living snot out of Street-Fighter's Ryu.

Though you're probably wondering why he demoted it to v1 Beta. According to PSPKOR, the game went through considerable changes over the past months, and along with some bugs, this version will be his basis for all future updates, hence its v1 Beta title. As for the changelog:
  • Redone alot of the in game code and hitting system.
  • Added much better A.I.
  • Added more moves for Ryu.
  • Added Rounds (best of three).
  • Added in-game music and sound effects.
  • Changed the look of the High score screen and other graphics.
  • New XMB icon and background.
  • New in game background(By me )
  • Redone alot of the training stuff.
Make sure to read the full changelog and installation instructions for either FW 1.5 or 3.03 users - they're available in the release info text document found in the zip bundle below. As a last note, it will be noted that this game uses an EBOOT format, so gamer don't need to worry about carrying a Lua player to run it. We thank PSPKOR for this update, and hope you guys enjoy the download.

PSPKOR has released a new version of his homebrew beat 'em up title coded in Lua, Bruce Lua to v0.2 today. Bruce lua is a homebrew clone of the retro game released for the Zx Spectrum and Commodore 64 consoles back in the 80's. It features side-scrolling gameplay and an enemy AI. The first release of this game, which features martial arts legend Bruce Lee and Street Fighter front-man Ryu, went down well with QJ readers a few weeks ago, and hopefully this release that packs more features and a decent enemy AI should be the same. Here's the changelog:
  • Actual game mode now playable thanks to AI.
  • Ryu(Enemy) with some Basic A.I.
  • Changing color health bar as your health gets lower.
  • Side scrolling background, as you walk close to it.
  • A score board, to see how well you can do.
This game even features a training mode to get you started on those karate chops. This is PSPKOR's first homebrew game and is only his second release for the PSP, the first being the initial version of Bruce Lua, and it is really fun to play. Hopefully this game will continue to be upgraded as the gameplay in this is truly remarkable for a Lua game! See for yourselves!

Bruce Lua Bruce Lua

Bruce Lua is a new side-scrolling homebrew game for the PSP by PSPKOR. Right now, the game is still in its infancy, and only the training mode is playable. The aim of training mode is to destroy the three boards that Bruce Lee is practicing on. Using a combination of kicks and punches, you must destroy each of the three boards one by one. When hitting the boards, make sure that Bruce's foot or hand hits the board or his attacks will have no effect.

Controls:
Triangle - Punch
Circle - Kick
X - Jump
D-pad Left - Move Backwards
D-pad Right - Move Forward

For PSPKOR's first-ever LUA game, Bruce Lua is looking pretty good, and has promise as a sidescrolling beat-em-up game. Check out the screenshots. Oh, and the coder apologizes for the pun. PSPKOR made sure to put that in the readme file.
