LuaTileArranger v.0.4 - graphics revision, compatibility increased - Image 1German homebrew developer Fujah has come up with a new build for LuaTileArranger, bumping it up to version 0.4. For those who missed our earlier coverage on this, LuaTileArranger allows PSP owners to create custom maps for certain games.

To make this easier to understand, Fujah likened LuaTileArranger to Photoshop which can deal with almost any programming language. More details and the changelog after the jump!

Bermuda CS 8 - Image 1

Bumuckl from QJ's PSP Development Forums has been hard at work since the release of Bermuda CS 7 'patched' to bring us an update to his portable image editing studio for the PSP. Today that hard work has paid off with the hopefully bug-free release of Bermuda CS 8. Many new features have been added, including the option to add your own fonts and brushes in order to customize Bermuda CS.

However, bug fixes was the name of the game and along with the 'thousands' of bugs that bumuckl has fixed for this release comes a lot of code optimizations to make Bermuda CS run faster and more smoothly on the PSP. Let's just say it runs a lot faster than Photoshop does on QJ Office computers! Anyway, back on topic, here's the giant changelog:
  • New interface GIMP-style Interface with new menu navigation
  • Fixed bug that made the app crash during creating a new picture
  • Improved menu-handling and code optimizations
  • Grafitti-tool added
  • Line-tool has been improved
  • CPU speed an be changed to 333 mhz, 222 mhz and 100 mhz
  • Fuzzieborad has been improved, now capital letters can be used as well
  • New fonts and brushes added, as well as the option to add your own
  • Added option to save your picture as a brush
  • Small canvas preview with cursor positions
  • Option to change default settings using the CONFIG.CFG file
If you are a graphic geek and enjoy manipulating or creating images on the move, then this app is for you. Catch the download below.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Image 1 Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Image 2

The last time we updated you on the highly-anticipated game that promises to tie up all the loose ends about Cloud, Sephiroth and Zack of Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII on the PlayStation Portable, we gave you a few nifty-yet-blurry scans to chew on. Now, thanks to zak234 and tipster Mehso, we can finally see in high-resolution glory just what's in store for PSP users all over the world when the game finally gets released, through these improved scans.

One thing to note with these scans - now that we can really see the actual images without squinting or resorting to Photoshop trickery - is that the visual quality of the characters are absolutely stunning. In all honesty, Sephiroth, Tifa, Zack and Cloud never looked so good and similar to their Advent Children selves - and that's with their in-game counterparts, mind.

Square Enix definitely has a classic on their hands, with a massive fanbase eagerly anticipating their next trip into Midgar. It doesn't hurt that they kept most of the game's roots intact, as evidenced by Odin's Zantetsuken attack. It's good to have the the sword-wielding guy back on your side and slashing things in half, isn't it?

Updates as we get them. Enjoy the scans!

Thanks to tipster Mehso!

Reboot for CIntro - Image 1A couple of days ago, QJ tipster bruce33 sent us a note regarding a homebrew application named Recovery mode 3.40 from Playstation Portable (PSP) online site TeknoPSP. Now he's buzzing the QJ doorbell again informing us about another application from the same site (Thanks bruce33!) - Reboot for CIntro.

Before we proceed though, we have to tell you that although we managed to get the application, the program was curiously removed from the above mentioned site so we couldn't pinpoint the author if this application. We also don't have any idea why it was removed so take a little care when you try this one.

Basically, Reboot for CIntro is for those who are using 3.40 and fond of Crack Intro (CIntro). As you know, this is a small introduction sequence added to the cracked software to inform everyone the people responsible behind the exploit.

The developer of this program that added animation has been added in the Eboot because he has gone quite tired of using MS Paint/Photoshop-created backgrounds. Also, music has been added in the Eboot to make the reboot process more interesting.

Reboot for CIntro has an accompanying Readme file that contains other useful information and an installation guide.

Lastly, he's also put up a contest for people to win more QJ Points on our forums. His call for excellent photoshoppery writes, "Also, i am offering 200,000 QJ forum points for the best yPaint theme! It can be anything, even based off Paint or Photoshop or something." All you have to do is visit the forum link below and post a screenshot of your theme to join. PSPUpdates wallpaper using PSP Backdrop Finaliser - Image 1 Homebrew developer for the PSP, ultimax, has updated his application PSP Backdrop Finaliser to version 2.6. The application formerly known as PSP Background Creator, lets you create wallpapers for your PSP via Windows. As my fellow QJ blogger Victor B. puts it, "this app feels like some sort of Photoshop Lite".

Anyhow, if this is the first time you'll be using this, don't worry. A manual can be found when you access the app itself (it's under the help menu on the toolbar). Having said that, here's the changelog for PSP Backdrop Finaliser version 2.6:
  • Minor bug fixes and alterations
  • Can now load PNG's and JPEG's
  • Has a new "Transparency" option
  • Text no longer overlaps the toolbar
  • Help icon on toolbar
  • New icon
  • Splash Screen
  • User manual now launches in seperate window
  • New Save and Load features for saving unfinished backdrops
  • Image set containing 24 default images now included
  • New Vista taskbar added
  • Includes link to QJ.net under help

You think you're good with Photoshop? Well, here's something that can cause you're Photoshop wang to shrink by a few inches. YouTube user RANDISALBION, used MS Paint, and a photo of a PSP for reference to come up with something absolutely amazing considering it's done on Paint: a decent rendition of a PSP.

Below is a video of how he did it.

If you're impressed with this one, check out his profile. He's got a whole lot of other videos showcasing his talent with MS Paint. Oh, the magic you can do with a decent tablet. (This blogger is being bitter...)

Yes, this isn't news, but it the sheer awesomeness makes it worth posting. Don't worry it's tagged under off-topic, put down your pitchforks.

slick black theme - Image 1

Want to customize your PSP icons? Then this application is just right for you. Created by Buddy4pioint0, here is a set with some ready made icons, some of which were made by him in Paint and Photoshop.

Now, he's got a few important instructions that you guys would have to take note of to fully enjoy this app. For one, all the icons are already all in the folder attached to the file, plus a 3.03 top menu plugin so you don't have to put it together yourself. And then some more. Check them out:
  • The topmenu plugin rco already has update firmware hex edited to reboot PSP and usb connection hex edited to connect to PC
  • comes PSP updates instead of instruction manual
  • For it to actually reboot your PSP you'll have to install the PSP rebooter in the custom theme pack 4
  • And for it to actually bring you to PSP updates instead of the online instuction manuals you will have to use flash agent and change it
Anyway, that's not all there is to know about the Custom Icon Set. So for you to find out more about it, make sure you go check out the Readme.

Wave editor - Image 1

Customizing a PSP may be fun, but it's admittedly tricky with all that fiddly coding required. Now, if you've been reading up on Vulpix's tgaWave Custom Wave Texture Injector, but don't have the technical finesse to run it, this latest update makes his latest XMBwave editor app even easier to use:

Instructions for use
------------------------------
!!!!NO MORE HEX EDITING REQUIRED!!!! [<---Yup, that's why]

  1. Read the tutorial by Al-Zamli from QJ.NET forums (2 mirrors), you can read it at: http://pspjunk.org/tgawavetut/index.html OR http://vbmaster.portablesofdoom.org/tgawavetut/index.html
  2. Open your TGA in Photoshop/GIMP/etc. Edit to your satisfaction (but make sure you read the tutorial first!)
  3. Save it exactly how the tutorial says (Indexed Color, Local (selective), 32 (or less) colors, Black and White with Transparency, and Diffusion.) You can now save the TGA as any name you wish.
  4. Run start.bat. It will guide you through the rco creation process. Specify the TGA you would like to inject and relax as it does the rest (no more hex editing required)
  5. Put system_plugin_bg.rco that was created in /vsh/resource/
  6. Done!
As always, be sure to view the README for extra details (such as the team that helped put this together).

We also highly recommend a visit to the forum boards - they've been cranking out some beautiful work using this and his previous apps, which may give you ideas on how you can customize your PSP.
