Homebrew developer Re_AnimAte has been working really hard the past few weeks on the applications PSP Game Maker and PSP Studio Max. Take note that Game Maker is a working compiler and tester for Lua games made in C#. Studio Max, on the other hand, is a shell for that program. Anyway, the coder dropped by QJ.Net Forums today and released PSP Easy-C. Some of you might now be wondering what the heck this Easy-C is all about. It's actually an improvement for Studio Max, an expansion if you will. Basically, the Studio app has been re-made to use C. Re_AnimAte added that there is a bit of a setup with all the files. However, it shouldn't be harder than using PSPDEV which was modded by another coder, PSdonkey. While this is the first release for PSP Easy-C, the coder mentioned that it has been tested many times and is working perfectly fine. Speaking of which, Re_AnimAte wishes to upgrade this program in the future and that's why he is currently looking for beta testers. No fancy C language knowledge is required, as long as you can write a "Hello World" script. Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 is needed to run PSP Easy-C. Re_AnimAte has released another application called PSP Lua Pad, which is an app that helps people make standard Lua applications and code of their own. Think of it as Notepad for Lua enthusiasts. He's mentioned a few things related to this release, though. For one thing, it's still in a pretty raw form, so don't expect it to be a mind-blowing application (but it WILL be helpful). He also notes the use of numbers to denote the coding lines, so just in case you people are starting to get sick of checking your code, use the lines as a reference. Lastly, you'll need the latest Microsoft .NET framework to run this application. As a nice gesture, he's also made the source code available for people to try. We're not sure if he's still building on this one, but at least you can learn something and make something new from the code he's made available. Enjoy! If you love the application PSP Studio Max, then you will be delighted to know that homebrew developer Re_AnimAte just gave the program a - how shall we put it? - mega update. In fact, the coder mentioned that he can't list all the changes for this release simply because there are so many of them.
To give you an idea, PSP Studio Max is a shell for another application PSP Game Maker. Now, the mega updated version was done with the help of another coder, -MANIAC-, and will need Microsoft .Net Framework 3.0 to run. Don't worry about that last one, though, as we've provided the download link to that as well. We've mentioned that there have been a lot of changes to PSP Studio Max MegA Update but it seems that Re_AnimAte is quite fond of a few, as he says, One thing's for sure though. The coding bit is 95% complete (the other 5% for extra add ons i may want to put in. LOL!). I've also removed the cmd prompt and had the error list print to a text box rather then a cmd screen I'm working on visual programming now and will start on making themes and music for it. Try this out and tell me what you think! As always, the file is accompanied by a Readme file where all needed information can be found so be sure not to skip that. Okay? Re_Animate is back, and this time he's got his PSP Studio Max v1.0. So it's been a while since he followed up on his projects. But, he explains, he had a full hardware crash, hence he had to start all over. Anyway, the PSP Studio Max v1.0 is just a shell for his PSP Game Maker. Obviously, it's far from being the final product, but just the same, he's asking you guys to check out the GUI. Again, you know the drill. You can put in your criticisms (make it constructive) or comments through our comments section below, or you can visit the QJ PSP forums to get in on the thread. It seems that there's an on-going friendly competition between two homebrew developers over at the QJ Forums. A couple of days ago, Re_AnimAte released a version of the application known as The PSP Game Maker. In a nutshell, PSP Game Maker is a working compiler and tester for Lua games made in C#.Now, coder -MANIAC- dropped by our forums today and told us about the competition. According to him, Re_AnimAte mentioned that he should create a new compiler and they'll see which one is better. And so he came up with The New PSP Game Maker. Well, this is just the GAMMA version though, which is a full two steps behind the BETA release. Just the same, give the app a look and tell us which one you guys actually prefer, just to help our two coders decide on who will be declared the winner of their contest. If you're interested, there are just a few reminders that you have to keep in mind before using this:

The thing with homebrew games, or applications for that matter, is that they often start out small. Some people react and say "I can do a better application than this", but as a coder, you just have to keep on developing your project. Eventually, you'll achieve dev greatness with a polished app. That is exactly what homebrew developer Re_AnimAte did to pet project PSP Game Maker. Basically, this application is a working compiler and tester for Lua games made in C#. The coder assures everyone that this is no longer a budget but a decent Lua compiler, and we agree. A lot have actually changed since the last version. Re_AnimAte promised a Compile feature, and that has been implemented in this release, along with a Test feature. Other improvements to PSP Game Maker includes Save As and Open features. Despite this, the coder mentioned that he is also working to improve the Compile feature so that all that users will have to do is select their PlayStation Portable (PSP) and the application should save it there for them without having to manually select directories or folders. Re_AnimAte also said that to be able to use the latest version, you will need Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0. So, for your convenience, we've also uploaded that file below. As always, the coder will appreciate comments and feedback for the program. Download: PSP Game Maker v0.07 Download: Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Visit: QJ PSP Development Forum |

Re_Animate is back, and with some serious updates on his PSP Game Maker. To all you skeptics out there, we guess he definitely proved you wrong, eh? Anyhow, this is his PSP Game Maker v0.6 shell. He says that he's now managed to come up with a generally working compiling and testing Lua game maker in C#.Among his updates, Re_Animate says that the LUA compile feature works, along with the test feature in 0.05, which in now out with a built in Save As and Open As feature, though it's still a bit buggy. Here's a list of the bugs that have been fixed/updates:
Anyhow, he's definitely interested in getting help from you guys, so you might wanna give him a shout out right here or over at our PSP Development Forums. He needs particular assistance with figuring the code and from people who know C#. So there. Check out Re_Animate's PSP Game Maker v0.06 shell and unleash that critique in you. Well, it looks like Re_Animate has been busy lately with constantly polishing up the application, PSP Game Maker. Now at its fifth revision, PSP Game Maker v0.05 has just been put up over at the QJ.NET Forums, and is now ready and able to give homebrew devs (or even aspiring homebrew devs) a helping hand. For those who are not familiar with the application, Re_Animate has basically created a tool that can make coding Lua games and other applications for the PSP a little bit easier. Besides helping to simplify the coding process, the application also users to compile and then test what they made. For v0.05, the following changes were made:
For that purpose, both the latest version of the application, as well as the source have been made available, just in case anyone wants to take a look and see if they can add anything to it. Meanwhile, those who have any comments and suggestions for this app are encouraged to drop by the QJ forums to let Re_Animate know what they think. Remember Re_Animate? He had a concept for creating a Lua-based application called the PSP Game Maker, which some lauded as a a bit of a joke. Well, it certainly is far from a joke now, as Re_Animate has released PSP Game Maker v0.04, allowing users the chance to start automating code for making games and other applications. It's still in testing and development, so it's pretty raw compared to a full app, but it does have a Lua compile feature. According to Re_Animate, "it's still a bit budget and only the LUA compile feature works with a premade test feature out of the program." Still, it should allow users to test the code they've placed inside the game maker. He also mentions that the app "will report to you when you compile it," presumably to tell you when it's done compiling. In any case, a little assistance from the homebrew community in terms of support and suggestions would probably help him make this app a work of art. Give it a try and let him know what you think of it on our forums or through this post here. Enjoy! Download: PSP Game Maker v0.04 Visit: PSP Development Forums |
