There are things in life that takes higher priority than others, and PSP homebrew developer SANiK has postponed the homebrew role in exchange for the pursuit of higher knowledge. The developer's online compatible cheat utility, NitePR now indefinitely on development limbo, but SANiK allowed the release of the source code to NitePR revision J. According to QJ Forum user brosmooth, SANiK offered up the source code to experienced and new developers alike who are willing to adopt the homebrew application for further improvements. The developer also left the source code archive with a note: Good luck decoding what it all does. A hint to how messy it is: I used #include files instead of linking code/separating code into .c files =o It's messy like that because I didn't actually sit down and plan nitePR out... I added as I went along. If I was you, I'd recode the entire thing by separating the GUI code (not needed) from the functional code (cheat searching, etc) And don't bug me about setting up the compiler or compile errors. There's a lot of hints from what's up ahead for aspiring developers, and we announce this to all homebrew developers far and wide to pique their interest. NitePR currently does not support 3.71 custom firmware, so if there are developers willing to try their hand at NitePR, this message goes out to you. We wish you good luck and happy recoding! If you're one of those fellows who like to add a cheat or two into their game, then you probably know about CWCheat and NitePR, two of the most notable cheating utilities for the PSP. You also probably understand the troubles that come with trying to convert a CWCheat cheat code into a NitePR cheat code. Luckily for you, jaybz has developed CWCheat2NitePR v0.51, a conversion system that allows people to turn CWCheat codes into NitePR codes. Jaybz notes that the application "will read your cheat.db file and all the txt files it can create based on the db." The application also notes any potential problems through message popups, which can actually be disabled through the user interface. Jaybz notes that you'll need the .Net Framework to get CWCheat2NitePR v0.51 to work, so we're also providing it below. Also, the utility can only convert certain codes as described in a thread by SANiK, which we're linking to below as well. In any case, give it a try and see how it works for you. Be sure to go through the readme that comes with the CWCheat2NitePR version 0.51 file. In case you're among those who frequently use the NitePR custom cheat plugin tool for your PSP, then we've got news. Homebrew developer SANiK dropped by the QJ.NET Forums earlier to let the guys know that they may want to re-download the app's latest release (Revision F). A bug has just been detected pertaining to searching for bytes, and has now been fixed. For the first-time readers, here's a rundown of NitePR's features:

Here's something to prove that the PSP is fully capable of running homebrew 3D games - thanks to SANiK who has just released his Mario demo for the PSP. As the title suggests, this is not a full title and therefore is quite short. But this demo shows that by using C, you can create a 3D environment just like this one and hopefully will encourage more developers to move away from 2D games and into the world of 3D. Here's what SANiK said about this release: This demo is never going to become a full game. It lags at certain points but could be sped up 90%. My little Mario Demo is just a taste of what could be done if one actually tries (with just 6 days to code it + 1 day to port it to the PSP) This isn't within everyone's ability, and of course depending on the homebrew game, 2D could be the better of the two. However this demo illustrates that 3D homebrew game is not impossible (take AnonymousTipsters' ThrottleX as evidence for that!) and therefore SANiK is giving developers the chance to finish this game; which apparently can be achieved by starting from scratch using poly.c and math.c. Developers, download the source code; homebrew gamers, download the demo. Check out the potential of the PSP! Download: [SANiK's 3D Mario Demo] Download: [3D Mario Demo source code] |
