Timewarp to the past!

The future is here! Oh, snaps. Let us rephrase: The PAST is here! Truthfully, a lot of the gamers (despite the push for better graphics, better sounds, and better everything) still have a special place in their hearts for 16-bit retro games from their childhood. Sega's just announced that their Sega Genesis Collection has now been shipped to retailers across North America.

US$ 29.95 will get you more than 30 games in this blast-from-the-past compilation. Just some of the titles include classics like Sonic the Hedgehog, Shinobi III, Phantasy Star, and Golden Axe. The collection will also feature unlockable items like interviews with the developers of the original games, as well as a museum area with interesting factoids about your favorite Sega Genesis games, even arcade titles from the Genesis era that you can access!

Don't you see images from your childhood flash before you? Whether you still got your friends from a decade ago or if you've got new friends now, you guys can share your 16-bit memories via Ad Hoc mode and relive the past with your handheld! Who said you should forget about your past? This time around, it's inescapable!

FlickyWant to know some more of the games in the Sega Genesis Collection? Then you came to the right place. Now showing is the game's 16th official movie, and featured this time is the game Flicky.

A little background about the game. It was first released back in 1984 (so that would make the game as old as me), and has appeared on the SG-100, the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, as well as mobile phones. What is Flicky? Flicky is actually a bird out to save her children, the Chirps, from housecats.

In the game, what the player has to do is to collect all of them Chirps and guide them through the exit. Obviously, as the objective of the game is to get them out alive, the player has to avoid Tiger the cat (okay, that's confusing) and Iggy the Iguana (and that's obvious). If stealth mode can't be sufficient to avoid them, then just resort to throwing items at them to kill 'em.

Anyhow, enjoy the vid!

If you were born late and none of these titles sound familiar, here's a short history lesson: Sega Genesis (also known as Sega Mega Drive) was a 16-bit video game console first released in Japan in 1988, which was then also released to the rest of the world later. Sega Genesis was meant to compete with Super Nintendo.

The Sega Genesis Collection is a compilation of classic Genesis games from 15 years ago and the titles included in the package are considered as milestones in the earlier chapter of the gaming industry. It's the closest thing to turning your PSP into a virtual time machine! The Sega Genesis Collection is set for release this Fall.

Earthworm Jim has got to be the most famous spine-less action hero of all time! The game, developed by Shiny Entertainment for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, SNES, MS-DOS, Game Gear, Game Boy and GBA, is a run and gun platform video game. Its hero Jim is a common garden variety crawler who accidentally gets hold of a robotic suit and ends up battling the most outrageous cast of villains in the universe. Earthworm Jim became the first game ever to receive a perfect review score from Games Master magazine. Just think of the mayhem it's gonna whip up on the PSP!
