NFL's Michael Strahan of the New York Giants - Image 1Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has just revealed their plans of a new TV advertising campaign for their PSP handheld platform. Who's the endorser, you ask? It's none other than NFL All-Pro athlete Michael Strahan of the New York Giants.

The football star will be the image model for the new PSP campaign that will extend the "Dude, Get Your Own" line of commercials. In fact, Strahan will be appearing side by side with the PSP's "Annoying Guy" made popular in the existing ads. Hmm... A tall tower of muscle faced against a skinny PSP fanboy. Accident waiting to happen, much?

Minnie Driver - Image 1Behold the new voice of Tomb Raider: Minnie Driver! The new "ReVisioned" series based on Tomb Raider's Lara Croft was launched by GameTap Retrospective in honor of the 10th anniversary of the release of the first game.  For more Lara Croft fun, the 10th Anniversary celebration will also release the Tomb Raider: Anniversary game on the PS2, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Portable.

Seems like this delectable diva has been busy in the animation industry recently.  She also stars in the new Simpsons movie.  Probably the most spectacular demonstration of her voice was when she played Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera, an even bigger diva than she is in real life.  She has experience in voicing an animated character from before: she played Brooke Shields in South Park and Lady Eboshi in Princess Mononoke so our favorite heroine will be safe in her hands (and microphone.)

"ReVisioned" will premier on July 10 on GameTap.com.  A new episode will appear every week through August 23.  And hey, it's free!

Turrican South Park mod - Image 1 Turrican South Park mod - Image 2

Mr. Shizzy has just released his very first homebrew game mod, Turrican South Park Mod. As you can probably tell already, this mod builds on Arguru's Turrican brew which was first released way back in July last year.

But to put an interesting slant into the game, he decided to create a South Park theme for the game as well, allowing users to take on the character of our foul-mouthed friend, Cartman. Timmy, Kenny, Mr. Hat, Mr. Hanky (The Christmas Poo, for those who don't know), Terrence, and Phillip will be your enemies. There are currently two levels in the game, but Mr.Shizzy says that if Arguru releases a level editor for Turrican, he'll be updating his mod as well.

Mr.Shizzy wants to give a shout out to Team DJMNV, Arguru, and VettaCossX for all his help and support. Installation instructions and more notes on the release can be found in the readme so please do check it out.

South Park Wars

masonman's here to share his LUA game pack with the whole homebrew community. All you have to do is dump the downloaded zip file's contents to the applications folder inside your luaplayer, and the cool cast of lua games is there for you to enjoy. Also, according to him, you may replace your lowser folder with his mowser folder if desired.

South Park Wars is included in the package, and since we here at QJ are lovers of the humor the said show provides, we decided to try it out first. The game's goal is to jump over your opponent to cause damage to his health pack, until eventually, he dies. And then you win. The shoulder buttons are for the jump action.

Anyway, here's what you'll find in the package:
  • BHB 3.0
    • with bhb chat
    • analog test
    • highscore share, and more
  • Word processor
    • with keyboard and various format options
  • Fun Balls
    • pong type game with good graphics
  • South Park Wars
    • with cool platform two-player action
  • Portable Graphic Art
    • with 20 tools included (copy, paste, color inversion, x, y inversion, spray
  • Mowser (his lowser)
    • with clock, file operations, text viewing, binary reading, photo viewing, and more
  • PAD (PSP aided drafting)
    • with polygon, line, box, and other tools

Star Wars Shadow of the Empire (Runs slow like Zelda OOT, 2-8 FPS)

We are all waiting for the latest on StrmnNrmn's N64 emulator for the PSP, Daedalus R7, which by the way has achieved a tremendous increase of 22-26% in overall speed as we've previously covered in detail here at QJ. To ease the wait, very persevering Captain Morgan has been a busy bee when it comes to compatibility updates on R6. Here's another batch that he has sent in. And, oh yeah, he wants to end the confusion on whether he's a gal or a guy. He is 100% alpha male.

UPDATE: Captain Morgan is one busy and persevering worker for he just updated his list today. He says that "two more games are covered since my release earlier-- Harvest Moon & Space Station Silicon Valley. Also "Advanced Shots" were added to the Super Mario 64 section. Details on those I can't tell you so go check them out!" He also wants to extend his thanks to Extrakrispy, Minotaur, and Mario Kart God.
