Sony's giving out a big firmware double-whammy to celebrate the PS3's third birthday. With Firmware 3.10 coming out for the PS3 today, Sony's following it up with the release of FW 6.20 for the PSP tomorrow in Japan.

Can't wait to import Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep this January? You might want to set aside a little extra money and get this new PSP bundle instead.

Famitsu.com has broken the news on a new entry in Taito's Estpolis series. If the name doesn't ring a bell, the series was released outside Japan as "Lufia". The new game will be called Estpolis: The Land Cursed by the Gods and will be produced by the original game's development staff. Square Enix will be handling publishing duties.

A solo dungeon crawl that puts you in control of a (quite literally) one man army, Vagrant Story's weapons creation system, deeply intricate plot, and Ashley Riot's sheer badassitude has cemented it as one of those games that you can rightly call a true PSOne classic. Soon, you'll be able to download it through the EU PlayStation Store. Hooray!

Forget those release windows. Square Enix has finally given a specific Japanese release date for Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. It's not for this year, but the date's close enough.

Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and yes, even Kingdom Hearts. Square Enix stands on the pillars of its great franchises, those three among them. If you love those three, then this might come as good news to you - Yoichi Wada wants to add two to three more franchises to that list.

Square Enix Japan is being rumored to be getting ready to bring down the axe on some 200 to 300 jobs in their company.
