Turns out you don't need super shiny cars to sell a racing game. At least, not according to the latest UK software charts, where Mario Kart Wii bursts into first place in its first week out, overtaking Gran Turismo 5: Prologue. Aside from this, Mario Kart Wii also got more sales in its first week than if you combined all the first week sales of previous Mario titles on the Wii. Homebrew developer dan369 decided to drop by the QJ.NET PSP Development forum and informed us about an amusing side project for the PlayStation Portable. Based on the Super Mario Bros. series, Jump Luigi v1.0 features the same side-scrolling gameplay that made the trademark series such a fun game. More details in our full article.

Famitsu, one of Japan's premier video game publications, has released its list of top 25 games for 2007. Interestingly enough, almost half of the games in the list belong to the Xbox 360 platform, which has been trailing behind in Japan's hardware sales.
