With the release of Custom Firmware Enabler v1.0 earlier, homebrew coder m0skit0 has decided to release a mod that will enable ChickHEN to load much smoother. Now this is handy for all the PSP owners with TA-088v3 motherboards who haven't tried the ChickHEN homebrew enabler from Team Typhoon yet.

With E3 so close, I'm sure a lot of people are looking forward to finally knowing if there's a new PSP coming out soon or not. A new PSP model would present another challenge for homebrew developers -- a brand new nut to crack with their hammers of code, so to speak. But that's in the future, and we're still stuck in the now. The now is nowhere near bad, though, as the PSP homebrew scene is still churning out some rather impressive apps and games for the Sony handheld. And you thought ChickHEN updates have reached a standstill? Heck no. We haven't even reached the yoke of the matter yet! It looks like Davee and the rest of Team Typhoon are busy updating their ChickHEN exploit to a new and very much improved R3. Just as M33 would have their custom firmwares, Team Typhoon also plans to incorporate a VSH menu and plugin support (among other features) to ChickHEN R3.

So we finally got the R2 version of Team Typhoon's ChicHEN exploit, and yes, homebrew is now most definitely enabled. Wondering what Dark AleX has planned? Or not planned, rather. Well, this doesn't come from DAX himself, but here's something close enough: webmaster Alek gives us updates on the ChickHEN exploit and clues us in on Team M33's plans.

While the PSP homebrew scene took a backseat to the sheer amount of new software announced for the PSP this week, Davee and Team Typhoon did manage to steal back the spotlight via their video of the 5.03 Homebrew Enabler in action. Another update in the form of a pic showing gpSP running on a PSP-3000 also made it in time to be included in this week's roundup of the hottest PSP homebrew news. Be patient, everyone. Davee's HEN exploit will eventually arrive given time. To tide over that wait, here's a little video demonstrating the 5.03 HEN in action. This one was posted by Granite, one of the beta testers of Davee (Team Typhoon).

Check out these new screenshots for Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception for the PSP! The game will feature a large load of multiplayer modes like dogfights, base attacks, and escort battles but will also include an intensive campaign mode (more about that below) with a new story and the complex AI system will without a doubt be a cool thing too. Namco's upcoming game will be released on September 30 in Japan and a while later in the US and Europe.

The story of the game is pretty simple. The Federal Republic of Auerila is at war with another empire, the Democratic Republic of Leasath. Apparently Auerila exploited Leasath during a civil war (whoops!). It's set in a totally different world (unlike like the previous Ace Combat games), and you play the leader of the Aurelian Air Force.
