It was a lucrative year for French video game publisher and developer Ubisoft. The company saw a profitable sales growth of 36 percent, amounting to around €928 million (US$ 1.46 billion). It owed its success to the successful releases during the previous year coming from established franchises, original IP releases, and even its casual line of games. Electronic Arts has decided to wait a bit more for Take-Two Interactive to reconsider its offer for acquisition. The Grand Theft Auto 4 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) publisher now has until the 16th of May to say yes to the giant's proposal. However, EA has lowered its per-share purchase rate by 24 cents. A gathering of the top gaming industry executives was the grand finale to the MI6 conference. This panel included big wigs such as Peter Moore, Laurent Detoc, and Alex St. John, among others. After the slew of mostly PC games last week, this time around we're going to have the same boatload of PC releases with a smattering of Nintendo Wii and DS games, and the occasional XBLA shoot-em-up in between. Ubisoft recently acquired full rights to the Tom Clancy name on a perpetual basis, relieving them of all future obligations to pay royalties for the franchise.
