Sony PSP Media Manager Pro: PSN support, Vista compatible - Image 1

The Sony Media Manager has been updated with the Media Manager Pro for the PSP. This application is currently available on the Sony Creative Software online store for around US$ 17.

Perhaps the biggest feature of the Media Manager Pro is its built-in support for the PlayStation Network. This makes it possible to transfer downloadable PSN games and saved data from the PC to the PSP and vice-versa. Interested parties will also be happy to know that the application can now back up PSP files on the PC allowing the user to restore their PSP back to its previous state.

Here are more Media Manager PRO features:
  • Transfer videos, photos, and music to or from your PSP system
  • Subscribe to feeds such as podcasts and video blogs, and automatically get new episodes on your PSP system
  • Prepare files for conversion even when your PSP system isn’t connected to your PC
  • Extract songs from your own CDs and transfer them to your PSP system
  • Transfer video from DVD home movies or DVD camcorders to your PSP system
Although we have a couple of homebrew programs for the PSP that provide the same features as Sony PSP Media Manager Pro, some of you guys with extra greenbacks may want to give this Sony product a try. Follow the read link below for more info.

Other changes include a new GUI, a new context menu for the task list/batch conversion feature, and a delay correction dialog for the FFmpegSource decoder. Vista users will also appreciate the tweaks and fixes that come with this release, as it is now more stable than ever when used under Windows Vista.

Choose your download choice - lite or full - below and get to converting. Please note that you need to install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 to run this app. Thanks to moneytoo for the news tip!

PSDeveloper BETA - Image 1Another homebrew developer by the name of TRStealthX has come out of the shadows and has released the homebrew application PSDeveloper which is currently in BETA. Budding and established PSP coders out there should take note of this application because this will be able to help you in the development of other applications or games for the Sony PlayStation Portable.

What is PSDeveloper exactly? Glad you asked. It's a Windows application that will allow you to develop apps for the PSP. This homebrew application works on both Windows Vista and Windows XP. Here's a list of features TRStealthX' PSDeveloper BETA has:
  • Insert common, media, and net headers.
  • Insert callback routines.
  • Example codes of Hello World and Displaying an image to the PSP.
  • Allows for basic file operations.
TRStealthX is open for suggestions when it comes to the PSDeveloper, so better tell the dev what you think is needed in this nifty app. You can also report what bugs may be found in the BETA version of PSDeveloper. Here's a list of what TRStealthX says should be expected from PSDeveloper:
  • Syntax highliter for better, and easier coding
  • Makefile maker
  • Auto define function (defines everything in your code, so you can understand what your doing better)
  • SmartBuild function - allows for compiling and testing straight off PSDeveloper
  • More code examples
  • Way better GUI
  • Less bugs
  • More, way more
The installation guide is in the readme, so better go check that out and thoroughly read the text file before you do anything with this app. Enjoy! And oh, shall we expect you guys to show us what you were able to come up with using the PSDeveloper? We'll be waiting.

CSP Development Studio was created by ManiacX - Image 1Homebrew developer MániácX dropped by the QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and announced a new build for his project, the CSP Development Studio. Actually, we've been covering this application for a while now.

For those not familiar with it, the program is basically a Windows-based IDE geared to help intermediate and beginner PSP coders in creating programs.

CSP Development Studio is currently on version 2.0 and MániácX mentioned that this needs to be installed as a "fresh install." This means that you have to take down all your previous CSP programs first before trying out this one. As for the current release's changelog:
  • Compiler updated to latest release (Thanks Xpack and Mr305!)
  • 100% Works with Windows Vista (Even compiling!)
  • Re-designed compiling mechanism (Now sets up the env. variables, then executes make.exe = NO MORE BAT FILES!)
  • Ability to use cygwin instead of built in compiler
  • Added Snippet Explorer (Drag and drop)
  • Output now works properly on all operating systems (Including Vista)
  • Faster Intellisense Response
  • Deleted unnecessary code
  • Faster startup time
  • Added donation button
Lastly, CSP Development Studio v2.0 in such a way that you won't have to download anything.

Clicking on our Read link below will automatically install the program to your system. So, before you do that, it's probably a good idea to go the QJ.NET Forums to see what others are saying about this application.
