First off, if you hate spoilers, you have no business reading the succeeding paragraphs. Just back away from this one, read another QJ article and be completely happy playing this nice title. Skipping this one won't ruin your life, we assure you.
Still reading? Don't say we didn't warn you. If you haven't bought The Simpsons yet but are planning to, you'll either be real happy or real pissed with what you'll find out. This is your last chance to back off. Destructoid reports that EA gave them a spoiler of sorts regarding this title. It turns out that there's a Wolfenstein level hidden in the game which can be unlocked. For the uninitiated, Castle Wolfenstein was one of the fathers of FPS and is certainly an icon of modern gaming. Destructoid explains "in the Medal of Homer stage, Bart and Homie are hired to steal white flags from a town trying to surrender so that they can get firebombed. However, if you put your chores aside and transform into Bartman and fly across the channel you can snake around an abandoned warehouse and find the hidden area. Smash a few boxes out of your way and you'll find a door to Duffenstein, a replica of the great old-school FPS Castle Wolfenstein." So there you have it. If you feel like revisiting the old school, The Simpsons will give you a chance to get some nostalgic treats. Otherwise, just enjoy the game and the nice movie, too. The Simpsons is available on Sony PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo DS and Sony PSP owners everywhere. |

If you like gory first person shooters with great graphics and a distinct likeness to successful FPS games such as DOOM and Wolfenstein 3D then you'll love PSP Dungeons 3D...and it's not a new UMD Game. Yes, despite the great looking graphics and a professional touch, PSP Dungeons 3D v0.5 is actually a homebrew game, the latest to come from the likes of Charnold from our forums. We last featured PSP Dungeons on QJ back in august, and a lot has changed since then, with a big clue being the title change to PSP Dungeons '3D'. Back in August Mnky commented on PSP Dungeons, saying "hopefully we'll see this come into a fully-fledged game soon" and I think his dreams have finally come true. Here's the changelog:

TheLazy1, a PSP and DS coder from our forums has released a new homebrew game that is bound to get vintage PC gamers all excited. As the title suggests, Wolfenstein 3D Test is a beta version for TheLazy1's Wolfenstein 3D port for the PSP using the open source Wolf3D shareware version. You can tell this is a beta as currently there is quit e a large list of things that still need to be done, but gameplay is good and the speed at which the game plays is very good. If you like wartime Nazi-bashing shooters then this is for you. This game predates even the earliest of FPS games - including Doom - so getting your hands on it is like taking a trip back to gaming history, before games had amazing graphics; a time when the gameplay counted the most. Currently this game has no sound, no music, no save game function, no loading and you can only use the analog stick for movement (even in th menu) at the moment, but these are early days. This test version will also probably contain a few bugs, so report them in the forum release thread so that Thelazy1 can fix this for future releases. I'll stop talking now so you can check the screenshots and get this baby on your PSP! The game comes in 2 formats, one in Kxploited download for firmware 1.5 and one in 1.0 format which could possibly work on 2.71 with Dark_Alex's Homebrew Enabler Rev C - test it out! Charnold has released the newest update for his homebrew game, PSP Dungeons. The previous update for this Wolfenstein-inspired FPS for your handheld included added combat elements and bigger mazes, taking an even bigger step towards becoming a fully-fledged game. Now, in v0.3, new features include the capability to render some 3D models (sometimes mixed with 2D billboards), all in 60 frames per second. Judging from the screenshot, it almost reminds one of the early versions of Counterstrike, which, considering it's all for a handheld AND it's home-made, is really not bad. As for the appearance of the Lara Croft look-alike... well, we're not too sure about that. Perhaps you better see for yourself and then tell us why she's there... Charnold from our forums is back with an update to his PSP Dungeons homebrew game, which we haven't heard from since last May. Some of you may have been thinking that we wouldn't see another update to PSP Dungeons (I certainly was), and then out of the blue comes Charnold with another eventful release. Some modifications to the game engine have enabled Charnold to add some new feature and expand the game a little. Here's the changelog for v0.2:
