PSP homebrew developer Pspflashsystem has released a new plugin called TimeBatteryPercent on the QJ.NET PSP Development forums. This plugin displays the percentage of available battery on the PSP XMB. It also adds a year value to the date.

Sony's giving out a big firmware double-whammy to celebrate the PS3's third birthday. With Firmware 3.10 coming out for the PS3 today, Sony's following it up with the release of FW 6.20 for the PSP tomorrow in Japan.

Homebrew coder Valentin has released a modified version of Homebrew Sorter, a handy plugin originally coded by Sakya for the PSP that automatically sorts all your favorite homebrews accordingly and displays them in the XMB. The new release has added a GUI written in OSLib MOD v1.1.0, a new graphics library, ability to change the order of categories and more.

Homebrew coder MrX256 has dropped by our forum to release a new version of IP address and subnet calculator / converter. This handy homebrew application can convert Internet Protocol version 4 addresses and subnets to binary form, and then back. The latest update now uses Intrafont instead of the default LUA font.

Those who've gotten a PSP Go and have spent some time tinkering around the XMB may have come across a few folders pointing to expiring games. Since when were games cooked in tomato sauce? Apparently, we may be looking at a yet-to-be-announced feature for the new PSP, which could be pointing to the possibility of digital game rental.

Homebrew coder Mediumgauge has released a new version of PSP Filer, a handy file management application for the PSP. The latest update is mostly a bug fix release with some additional new features in the picture viewer.

Homebrew coder Total_Noob has released a revised version of Ultimate VSH Menu, an alternative plugin to replace the official VSH menu of custom firmware M33 and GEN. The excellent PSP plugin is now compatible with CFW 5.00 M33, 5.02GEN, 5.03GEN and the latest 5.50GEN.

Despite presenting problems for those who've already made the firmware upgrade, it seems that FW 3.0 has accomplished what it set out to do - boost sales for the PlayStation Store. One developer that benefited from this upgrade is Doublesix, which told GamesIndustry.biz that Burn Zombie Burn sales jumped 40% since the firmware's launch.

Heads up, guys! Firmware 6.00 for the PSP has now been released by Sony. You can now download it via the Network Update. No word yet on what the changes are, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on this as we dig up more info.

Homebrew coder Zack has dropped by our forums to release a new update for LuaPlayer Euphoria. The latest version of the excellent LuaPlayer is a feature pack release with the addition of new features and lots of changes.
