CSP Development Studio was created by ManiacX - Image 1Homebrew developer MániácX dropped by the QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and announced a new build for his project, the CSP Development Studio. Actually, we've been covering this application for a while now.

For those not familiar with it, the program is basically a Windows-based IDE geared to help intermediate and beginner PSP coders in creating programs.

CSP Development Studio is currently on version 2.0 and MániácX mentioned that this needs to be installed as a "fresh install." This means that you have to take down all your previous CSP programs first before trying out this one. As for the current release's changelog:
  • Compiler updated to latest release (Thanks Xpack and Mr305!)
  • 100% Works with Windows Vista (Even compiling!)
  • Re-designed compiling mechanism (Now sets up the env. variables, then executes make.exe = NO MORE BAT FILES!)
  • Ability to use cygwin instead of built in compiler
  • Added Snippet Explorer (Drag and drop)
  • Output now works properly on all operating systems (Including Vista)
  • Faster Intellisense Response
  • Deleted unnecessary code
  • Faster startup time
  • Added donation button
Lastly, CSP Development Studio v2.0 in such a way that you won't have to download anything.

Clicking on our Read link below will automatically install the program to your system. So, before you do that, it's probably a good idea to go the QJ.NET Forums to see what others are saying about this application.

File Flashing - Image 1Xpack and cloudpjff7 have been hard at work making a new version of FileFlasher, the Lua-based flashing app. He's recently come up with version 2 of the FileFlasher, and there are a ton of changes made to the PSP application to give everyone a quality piece of programming.

As always, apps with flashing capabilities do have a potential of bricking your PlayStation Portables, so take some precautions, check the readme, and do what you have to to lessen the chances of bricking. In any event, the rather lengthy changelog is below. Enjoy your download, and happy flashing!

Changes made in v 2.0
  • Checks that there is enough flash0 memory when flashing.
  • Allows you to browse your memory stick to decide which files you choose to flash.
  • Checks to make sure that the battery level is ok for flashing.
  • Checks your PSP unit Firmware version
  • Checks your PSP nickname
  • Allows you to toggle the USB
  • Added some graphics
  • Small bugfixes
  • Creates backups of the following files:
    • 01-12.bmp                    (Background)
    • topmenu_plugin.rco      (XMB Menu)
    • opening_plugin.rco       (Coldboot)
    • gameboot.pmf              (Video Clip)
    • system_plugin_bg.rco  (XMB Wave Effect)
    • game_plugin.rco           (Game Images)
    • impose_plugin.rco        (Volume Bars)
    • savedata_plugin.rco     (Savedata Images)
    • system_plugin.rco        (XMB Click Sounds)
    • system_plugin_fg.rco   (Battery Pictures)
    • ltn0.pgf                         (Font)
  • Allows you to delete backups
  • Allows you to recover any of the backups.
  • Allows you to remove and restore files to save flash0 space
  • This program will automatically create backup of all files:
    • Camera Icon and function:    Saves 246.4 kb
    • Web Browser:                       Saves 395.9 kb
    • Pictures viewer from XMB:     Saves 232.4 kb
    • RSS Feeder:                          Saves 128.8 kb
    • Music Player on XMB:            Saves 751.5 kb
    • Video Player:                        Saves 802.9 kb
    • Network Update:                  Saves 33.6 kb

PSP Flashing Applications - Image 1

xpack's FileFlasher (PSP Flasher Lua Edition)">Xpack's released a new PSP Flashing application for people to try out. He's still thinking of a name, but it's tentatively called FileFlasher for now. While there are a lot of flashing applications out there already, Xpack is also doing some things to give people added value for their homebrewing buck.

In this case, Xpack notes that you can flash multiple files at the same time without putting them into the ROOT folder of the memory stick. It can also be set to create backups of the files you're flashing, ensuring that you can flash without overwriting any of the files you're trying to flash.

As always though, flashing files brings with it the chance of bricking a PSP. Backup your files, save them somewhere, and be careful when using this app so you minimize the chance of bricking things.
