Zion, who also goes by the alias Xx FightStar xX, dropped us a line about a recent update on the homebrew game based off of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo: Genocide. While the previous version was already astounding as it was, the developer reassures us that this is "the closest and most realistic thing so far to being able to play Halo on your PSP." 'Nuf said, right? Now as Zion says, Halo: Genocide v1.3 is mainly a bug fix release. A couple of lagging and slowdown issues have been resolved, as well as other minor hiccups. Zion is also asking for help from some of the graphic designers out there. Maybe you want to get into the project? Zion elaborates: "Im looking for a gfx artist to make this either better and add more content to it or turn the game into an original shooter." Since the developer is requesting that other sites not host the file, we'd have to redirect you to the Read link below. You'd have to register and login to download the file, though. Homebrew developer Xx FightStar xX tipped us off about the newest
release of the homebrew game, Halo: Genocide, now upped to version 1.2.
The dev proudly states that this newest version is "almost
unrecognisable" from the previous release, and that it has been vastly improved.
Just looking at version 1.2's changelog might be overwhelming for those who haven't played Xx FightStar xX's homebrew game, so here's a little info on this: It's actually a side scrolling shooter in 2D of the game Halo: Combat Evolved for the PC. The storyline of this homebrew game precedes that of the PC video game. Now that's out of the way, let's see what's been added, removed, changed, and improved in Halo: Genocide version 1.2. The long list of new features and bug fixes are in the Full Article, but just to show you what to expect in this latest release, here's part of the version 1.2's changelog. New features:

Homebrew
developer Xx FightStar xX has finally released his game for the
PlayStation Portable, Halo: Genocide. The dev's latest creation is a 2D
version of Halo: Combat Evolved for the PC, and is a side scrolling shooter. According to Xx FightStar xX, this homebrew game is a prequel of sorts to Evolved.
Xx FightStar xX says that in the game, "The Crosshair has to be on/almost on the enemy to result in a hit. Crouching makes a round shield appear around you and makes you invulnerable to enemy fire." The developer also tells us that there are still some bugs with this release, so feedback on the game and those darn bugs will be very helpful. Credits and other pertinent details are in the readme file, so better go through that first before playing Halo: Genocide. Enjoy the game!
