The Good News Bible, Spanish Edition - Image 1After the mixed reaction to the release of The Good News Bible, we're pleasantly surprised to know that it's still being worked upon by Ai3gtmC. F0lloW3r told us of a new version that's up for his bible, and we're glad to note that the PSP version of the handy bible now has a Spanish translation.

That's right. If you're a Spanish speaker, then you can also freely call this Las Noticias Buenas, or The Good News Bible, Spanish Edition. Now it's not 100% perfect, as you still have to type the names of the books in English, but it does have all the Old Testament and New Testament books as part of its lineup.

In any case, here are the installation and use instructions, as they aren't on the download itself. Feel free to use it and take solace from the words of God, alright?

Install:
Run tgnbsp.exe then select your psp drive (eg F: or G:) then click Install

Usage:
Go to your psp Internet Browser
Type: file:tgnbspindex-nt.thm for New Testament and index-ot for Old Testament
Now click any book example Genesis then lastly Read.

The Good News Bible - Image 1And so the good news continues to spread all across the PlayStation Portable (PSP) nation. Homebrew developer ai3gtmc dropped by the QJ.NET Forums and informed us that there's a new version for The Good News Bible. The owner of the application said it best: "It may look crappy but what matters is the words in it."

Anyway, The Good News bible is currently on v0.3 and a couple of changes were implemented since the last release. Here's a quick rundown of the changelog:

Version 0.3
  • Added New Testament
  • God's words are in red
  • Added index for Old and New Testament *read the Readme*
  • Renamed "thegoodnews" folder to "tgnb" for faster typing (pressing actually)
Version 0.2
  • Not too much
  • Renamed the folder "thegoodnewsbible" to "thegoodnews" due to some bug
To access The Good News Bible, all you have to do is choose your PlayStation Portable (PSP) directory on your PC and then run the file package. After that, proceed to your PSP's internet browser. Then type "file:tgnb(index-ot.htm" for Old Testament. Likewise,  type "file:tgnb(index-nt.htm" for New Testament index.

UPDATE: It came to our attention that the owner of this application, ai3gtmc, has mistakenly provided the wrong link to The Good News Bible v0.3. The link has been fixed now and the download link below should provide no problems at all. Good job, ai3gtmc!

The Good News Bible - Image 1

If you haven't noticed, some of us are quite big fans of simple apps and homebrew that inform and educate. On the one hand, there's something like SuperbatXS' Biographies of US Presidents to teach us about the American Presidents. On the other hand, we also have stuff like this: The Good News Bible, now on your PSPs.

ai3gtmc released a beta of his Good News Bible for people to try out and read. His beta version currently carries only the Old Testament, but it seems to be accurate, according to our humble comparison with our own Good Book. Of course, it could probably use an interface of some kind, but for folks who want to read the bible as it is, without distractions and footnotes, it's definitely worth looking at. Just remember to check his instructions for installation and use beforehand so you don't inadvertently install this in the wrong place.

Now, if only we can get something like this for other important books...
