gen - Image 1The recently released Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-C didn't fare well with the PSP community because of various system freezes and other bug reports, but now it seems everything has been fixed and the new update is ready for upload.

PSP Weekend Warrior - Image 1Hideo Kojima is one busy man, and it looks like he will be one for the years to come. He has two different games (three if you count Lords of Shadow) under his supervision right now, but he already has his eye on what he'll be doing after MGS Rising and his personal pet project, MGS Peace Walker. He also has a lot of downright weird ideas sometimes. Case in point: singing and screaming weapons in Peace Walker. Say what?

Namco Bandai - Image 1You can really feel the gaming expo heat building up when more and more publishers start handing out their lineups. We've seen quite a lot of games coming to TGS 2009 by now, and adding to that list is Namco Bandai, bringing games from franchises that the merged companies are well-known for.

PSP Weekend Warrior - Image 1A rather vocal portion of the PSP userbase has been calling for an addition analog nub to be added to the Sony handheld for years now. The conspicuous lack of a second nub on the new PSP Go has since reignited the call, but this week we got what I believe is a rather reasonable answer from Sony: It's just not the right time. Since Sony's shooting for a ten-year lifespan for their consoles, we can probably expect a dual analog PSP in, say, 2015. If the world doesn't decide to keel over and die in 2012, of course. This and more in this week's PSP Weekend Warrior.

Fullmetal Alchemist - Image 1Hoping to dispel bad impressions of Fullmetal Alchemist games comes the latest FMA game for the PSP. Fans will be glad to know that this one isn't another card game, and judging by the footage, there's gonna be more action than in any Fullmetal Alchemist title seen before.

PSP Weekend Warrior - Image 1 With the PSP Go already confirmed and out of the shadows, the rumor mill has once again trained its rose-colored sights on the PSP2. The latest rumor this week is that the next PSP will have a quad-core GPU to amp up its graphical capabilities more than ever. Things were better on the software side as each of the big updates we saw this week were backed by hard evidence. Read on for the rest of the PSP Weekend Warrior.

Anime Style v2 Anime Style v2

Monkeyboy1916 has just released another mod for PSP Revolution. If you can recall, a few days ago he gave us the first batch of his anime-themed mods inspired from Full Metal Alchemist, Yuyu Hakusho, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Inuyasha. Monketboy1916 must be a huge anime fan, as his letter to us can't contain his excitement over his awesome creation. In his own words:

"
Here is my latest release of Anime Style mod of PSP Revolution, First of all i would like to thank RomTheStampede for all his help in making the images for this release, he is an awesome designer. This new release has added so many more songs and 3 new anime's ( Naruto, Bleach, & Code Lyoko "not really an anime but wtevr" ). I also added a couple new songs to the other anime's too. Im not sure if i will be continuing this, but if i do, i know i got all the help i could need. It is a big download, so only get it if you have bigger than 32mb mem stick. Thx for all the help everyone, and i hope you enjoy this new release!!!"

Now that we heard his thoughts, it's time for mine. I've only have this to say for projects like this... Great work, who doesn't love animes?! I'm already in my early 20s and I'm still such a huge fan of Animes like Demon Fox Naruto (and his weird jutsus), Inuyasha, Kenshin, Rei-Gun wielding Yusuke, among many others. In fact, my favorite quote came from Kira Yamato (Gundamn Pilot): "If we don't do anything just because we think it won't do something, then we just did worse than nothing".

With that said, mods like these are very welcome in the community. Add that to the action PSP Revolution gives to its players and you have a game that packs quite a punch; one that will take away the boredom of this long summer days. Hey, if you ever got tired of the button-mashing action PSP Revolution gives you, you can spend some good times just watching the themes and listening to the made-for-Anime music.

The download includes both files for 1.50 and 1.00 users. To install, just copy the the two folders (one with the game name, and the other with the game name plus % sign) and paste it inside ms0:/PSP/GAME (where ms0 refers to the memory stick of your PSP). So, get your jutsu, I mean jive, going.

Ade has released his first Lua game for the PSP only a week after his purchase of a 1.5 firmware PSP! The object of this game is to cover the entire board with symbols. These symbols vary in color and shape which is the basis of this game. To cover the entire board, it is not as simple as you may think. To successfully place a tile/symbol on the board, you must have it match in shape or color to a symbol adjacent to it. If the symbol is not a matching pair (color or shape) you can not place it. One of my favorite features of this game is the ability to see the time and battery level while playing, something that I will find myself using a lot when I am running on a tight schedule. With this being a first release, it really is amazing, and is a must-have in my book for everyone! This program is coded in LUA and must be executed using lua player.
