ACAMM's September issue features a semi animated version of Ergo Proxy, a a fusion of 2D digital cell animation, 3D computer modeling, and special digital effects. It will be just like browsing your usual PSP magazines, however this time, instead of the usual news and updates, you'll be treated to sensational anime style graphics and amazing storyline. Its creator Dai Sato in an interview described as follows: "It is set in the future. A group of robots become infected with something called the Cogito virus, and become aware of their own existence. So these robots, which had been tools of humans, decide to go on an adventure to search for themselves. They have to decide whether the virus that infected them created their identity, or whether they gained their identity through their travels. This question is meant to represent our own debate over whether we become who we are because of our environment, or because of things that are inherent in us. The robots are all named after philosophers: Derrida and Lacan and Husserl." Scroll fast enough and you actually make the pictures come to life. Clever, clever. Hedzx from the forums has released the first public beta of his LUA coded game he named Super Chibi Fighters. What is a Chibi you ask. It mostly refers to certain kind of drawing style used by anime or manga illustrators to denote a child version of the character. Think cute and cuddly versions of your favorite anime characters. Now that we've done away with the explanation, definitions and whatnots, let's go straight to the game. All the essentials of SCF being a great game in the future are already in there - cute characters and tried and tested mode of play - (here comes the big...) however, there are still a lot of room for improvements. The most obvious of these "chance for improvements" are the graphics used in the game. Good news though is that there are a lot of forum members offering their help to Hedzx to make some changes. You gotta love QJ forum members for that. Also, the sandbag can only be punched twice, and that's it. Hopefully, next time someone can actually win. The QJ crew shares the same suggestions as whitehawk and Urza the Tyrant about adding more chibis and a visual healthbar instead of just using text. Sounds maybe a very addition to the game as well. And I should mention that over at QJ, a resounding "awww..." echoed when we opened the storyline for the game. We highly recommend you view it. A very interesting story. Changelog:

Monkeyboy1916's mod for DeNitro and Devin923's PSP Revolution, Anime Style,
is saying sayonara for now. Maybe, you're thinking that he has already
announced that in version three, but because of some bugs that were
found in that game's release, he continued to refine his work. This
time though, it's the real deal.
"Unfortunatly this is my last version this time, only because there aren't many more songs worth adding, but when a new version of PSP Revolution comes out I will be here to update Anime Style, and maybe throw in a couple songs," says Monkeyboy1916 on the letter he sent QJ. However, the recent additions to his mod would make it a farewell to remember. Since the last release, there are a number of new animes added to the pack like Samurai Champloo, Ruronin Kenshin, Ghost in the Shell, Eureka Seven and Cowboy Bebop. The previously included anime packs were given new tracks as well. Download: [Anime Style v4] The full song list awaits after the jump! |

Gnosis Games has recently released the trailer for the NDS, PSP, and Wii of their upcoming game - Broken Saints. This is a third-person adventure/action title and builds on exploration and communication-oriented gameplay found in classic adventure games while introducing chilling mature themes and action found in such groundbreaking titles as Resident Evil and Eternal Darkness. You may know Broken Saints as that flash-animated film series which tackled the plight of four strangers on a haunting quest into the layers of a global technological conspiracy and the very depths of their own tortured souls to reveal the shocking truth that binds them together. In the game version of this one, Players will control the four protagonists from the original online story, a Buddhist priest, a Muslim mercenary, a Catholic programmer, and a mysterious Fijian orphan, as they use their special gifts to explore lush landscapes, terrifying dreamscapes, and the chilling web of techno-spiritual intrigue that could change the fate of the entire world. Here are some of the game's features:

Loco Roco, well, where do we start? Whatever Alejandro Quan Madrid said about it, here at QJ territory, every time there is something to write about these cute blobs, let's just say that everybody here (especially Karen) would kill to cover the story. Well, what can we say, we fell in love with them blobs, there's no reason not to. And we know that you also got captivated with these creatures, that's why homebrew developer MonkeyBoy1916's latest creation might tickle your fancy as he proudly brings to all of you, Loco Roco lovers, the PSP Revolution Loco Roco Style v1. The developer mentioned to us that he "modded everything to have a locoroco feel to it, but since there are very few locoroco songs available i could only include 2, once more are available i will add them to LocoRoco Style.." Yes, there are only two songs - Loco Roco Demo and Evil Theme, but once you start playing, you'll easily forget that inadequacy because you're already getting amused by the Loco Roco feel of the game. Just be careful not to be too enamored because you might miss them steps, which unfortunately happened to us. Anyway, there is definitely more room for improvement (which means more Loco Roco) for this app in its next release. MonkeyBoy1916 would also like to apologize about the delayed release of Anime Style v4, but he promises that it would be worth the wait "as it has about 20 new songs and 5 new Anime's". For now, let the PSP Revolution Loco Roco Style v1 melt your hearts. And also don't forget to talk about it through your comments.

ONScripter is a free software implementation of the visual novel creation utility NScipter, under the GPL license. If you're not familiar with NScripter, it's an engine created by Naoki Takahashi that is used to create visual novels or interactive fiction. Usually anime-style art is used to depict the characters and to tell the story. The game doesn't require you to do much, but push a button to keep the text, graphics and sound moving. The style of gameplay has been compared to the popular Choose Your Own Adventure novels. Popular visual novels include Narcissu, Operation Sanctuary and Tsukihime. Ogapee has just release it's latest built for ONScripter. The site is written in Japanese and we just used an online page translator to get as much as we can. Here it is: Changelog: 1. In regard to the cursor operation mode of the analog key.
3. Adding the setting which makes the analog key itself invalid. A detailed How-to is provided here. Everything else is the same except changes made to items under number 9. Donwload: [ONScripter 20060729] |

Following on from a recent article here at QJ announcing the new strategy RPG in development from Level 5 - Jeanne d'Arc (commonly known in English as Joan of Arc), comes these scans from a recent issue of Japanese magazine, Famitsu. Now I am not Japanese so I have no idea what the wording says, but judging by the anime graphics it is looking pretty good!

Three new characters will be introduced to the PSP game, Blood+ Final Fragment. They are Shimako, Lam, and Aidou. Shimako is one of Saya's classmates. Upon meeting her, you'd also get to meet her friends Lam and Aidou. These characters are independent of the anime and are probably there just to help you with some clues in the game.
The game is set to tie the
mystery of Saya's world introduced in the TV animation of "Blood+." A summary of the second chapter of this anime game has also been provided. If the first chapter was all about Saya's relationship with and the sudden disappearance of her father, then this second chapter tackles more the disappearances in Osaka. This chapter will also tell us more about the monster that's supposedly haunting the school. David will be the one investigating this situation; he'll also be checking up on Saya who was attacked by the said monster. Here are some more scans of this interesting game for the PSP, Blood+ Final Piece.

"Finally I am releasing v3, i believe this will be my final release of Anime Style, but i might come back with a mod of a different kind, still thinking about it though.. Hope you all like this version, there were reports of minor bugs with the pics, thats been fixed up now, and a couple pics were cleared up and replaced, Thx to RomTheStampede, If it wasnt for him, this mod would not be no wheres near as good. I personally started working on this because i wanted to play it myself, then i saw alot of people liked the 1st version, so i continued it, im glad that it came out as good as it is. I hope everyone likes this version, as it is my final release of Anime Style." Hopefully this isn't the last we've seen of this mod. There are still a lot of anime out there that has very good music like Ghost in the Shell and NANA (Mika Nakashima and Tsuchiya Anna just plain rocks). I was ecstatic that, although version 1 and version 2 sparked a bout of heated discussions over anime, Monkeyboy1916 didn't get discouraged and continued to release new versions of this Anime Style mod for the PSP Revolution. Much appreciated. Let us start with graphics. I can't even begin how vividly gorgeous the new backgrounds are. I'd miss a few arrows, because I kept looking at the background. Maybe they're a little too good? I kid. I guess we have RomTheStampede to thank for that. This improvement in graphics is also evident in the selection screen. I like how the song titles are visual representations of the actual songs. Deep Forest by Do As Infinity has this nature feel to it, and how L'arc~en~Ciel is spelled, complete to the last tilde. Remember when people could use the PSP's once anemic game library against you in console flame wars? Well thanks to games like Lumines, Exit, Daxter, Syphon Filter, Mega Man Powered Up and Burnout Legends (to name just a few) that argument no longer holds much water. If however, you hear someone beginning to pipe up, you can simply point them in the direction of this little list of promising future PSP titles. Yum! Read the entire article after the jump! |
