For this offering of our weekly recap, we see a resurgence of all sorts in the gaming industry. Finally we see a PS3 kicking ass in the sales charts, finally we see another big homebrew breakthrough for the PSP, and finally, it looks like things are definitely looking up for the videogame world in general. It is certainly looking like it's gonna be a happy holidays we're having this year.

Word got out last weekend that the ESRB's rating costs were a source of yet another concern for indie game devs on the PSP Go. Today, the ESRB clears the air, with the help of spokesman Eliot Mizrachi.

Despite the Minis name, development for Sony's new PSP program is by no means a small task, particularly for smaller developers. Gamasutra got in touch with a few developers supporting PSP Minis, and one of the things they got out of the interviews is a big concern for making smaller, cheaper games for the PSP.  Who would've thought that the cost to get ESRB ratings could be so steep?

Another classic from console generations past will once again get a breath of life in the new hardware. Sony's strategy for the PSP Go -- and to a certain extent, for older PSPs -- seems to target Apple's App Store directly. In the eyes of Sony Europe's head of developer relations, Zeno Colaco, they're not directly gunning for the App Store at all, but they will be doing things better by giving more support and visibility to developers.

Of all the places to find potential gaming news, it had to be on a model's blog (via Kotaku). International model Jacquetta Wheeler posted in her Vogue blog account (yes, models get to blog in Vogue, us mere mortals in myspace) that she saw Beaterator in actual play ... in an iPhone.

With barely five days left until GamesCom, Sony has apparently been slapped with another major leak today as news broke about the price of PSP games for the rumored PSN App Store. According to Pocket Gamer, the upcoming PSP games will be priced at 1, 2 and 5 euros (US$ 1.43, US$ 4.28 and US $7.14), which is equivalent to games available in the Apple App Store.

It may not have the same hoopla as E3 had, but the GamesCom sure is making the developers and publishers just as busy all the same. With their promised new wares, any event definitely is an opportunity to show what they've got -- and to impress. And we all know it would do everyone a whole lot of good if we get more impressive games around, especially if we want some positive movement in the charts.
