Making a Legend was created by andyauff - Image 1 Making a Legend was created by andyauff - Image 2

Homebrew developer andyauff dropped by the QJ.NET PSP Development forum recently and released his new creation - Making a Legend. Those of you who lurk in our forums should remember that there was a certain thread looking for GFX creators for homebrew games. Well, Making a Legend is that thread's baby.

Anyway, the game is currently on Alpha version. Despite that, it is already packed with a lot of features and andyauff added that more will be included in the next versions. As of now, you can do the following in Making a Legend Alpha version:
  • Select an enemy to attack on the grid by moving the selector and pressing X.
  • Fight them by shooting bullets at them, decreasing their health from 100 by an increment of 5 at a time.
  • You are supposed to get 100 gold when you defeat them, but I am still working that out (you'll get more than that)
  • There is a shop where you can buy potions and megapotions, which currently have no use. The shop system does work correctly, though, and your amount of gold is saved automatically so even if you quit to the XMB, you will still have the same amount of gold when you start the game back up.
  • There are 6 enemies on the screen, but you can fight them each as many times as you like- they don't go away even if you defeat them *yet*.
  • No AI currently, as this is only an alpha version.
The developer would very much like to hear from the community about their thoughts on this homebrew game. So, let us all help andyauff out and give Making a Legend a try. Other coders included in this project are Deviant Savant and Bob Hoil.

Ultimate Lua Shell screenshot - Image 1PSP homebrew developer Bob Hoil has apparently been working overtime, as the coder dropped by the QJ.Net Forums earlier to announce the release of Ultimate Lua Shell v.2. This application is a shell coded in Lua, and is expected to carry features like games, applications, a file browser, and a small text-based web browser. Here are the latest tweaks since v.1:
  • Games screen added
  • Tank Attack v.4 added under games(Thanks to waywardson)
  • Apps screen added
  • Fixed it so when you hit start at the apps, games, or filebrowser screen and go to the main menu it does not say the path does not exist.
  • New icon for the EBOOT
Installation details should be available in the README file. With that said, we advise users to drop by the QJ.Net Forums to visit the release thread in case they want to help the author out by submitting more apps and games for this shell's use. Enjoy the download!

Ultimate Lua Shell was coded by Bob Hoil - Image 1

Up and coming homebrew developer Bob Hoil dropped by QJ.Net Forums and released Ultimate Lua Shell. The application's in the very early stages of development and that's why he will be needing your help.

The coder, in fact, realizes this and mentioned that v0.1 is a mere demo of things to come. Anyway, Ultimate Lua Shell is, well, a shell coded in Lua. It will have games, various applications, and a file browser as well as a small text-based web browser. But for now, the only feature functional is the file browser.

Bob Hoil also said that if you happen to like this app, you can help out by sending in some games and applications that can go with it in the future versions. Other coders involved in this release include Zevlar and TacticalPenguin. Good luck on coding Bob Hoil!
