A few days back, QJ.NET forums member oldrider released a team project called PSPFramework. Now, the PlayStation Portable homebrew development team (Robson Rufino, Kedny Cavalcanti, Thiago Palange, and Ney Estrabelli) has updated the application, bumping it up to version 1.1.For those who missed the previous report, PSPFramework is a "framework for development games [on 2D] with oslib using OOP." It features a database system, sprites, a resource manager, and fonts, among others, and it's based on Brunni's OSLib. This version of the application sports some bug fixes and some additions. Here's a snippet from the release thread: Bugfixes:

With the recent number of coding competitions, homebrew programmers have slowly been carving out a niche in the homebrew scene for Sony's PlayStation Portable. In particular, the Old School Library (OSlib) Sprites Lib has become the mainstay framework on which coders have been basing their 2D games on for the PSP.The development team of Robson Rufino, Kedny Cavalcanti, Thiago Palange, and Ney Estrabelli have created a framework library based on the OSlib application originally created by Brunni. Called the PSPFramework 1.0, it features Object Oriented Programming (OOP) with its own set of sprites, animation sheets and frames, as well as a customizable database system and resource manager. It also includes a loader and a set of fonts for budding programmers to play round with. Before you get coding though, make sure you have a good look at the documentation that comes with the executable installer for PSPFramework. Don't forget to install OSlib beforehand as well since it is based on the application after all. The download link is below, so feel free to check it out if you're up to making a name for yourself on the PSP homebrew development scene. Download: PSPFramework 1.0 |

Homebrew developer Brunni has just released a new build for the highly flexible emulator MasterBoy bringing it up to version 2.02. For the uninformed, this particular application is able to emulate Game Boy, Sega Master and Game Gear video games on the PlayStation Portable. One of the many good features MasterBoy carries is that it allows users to fully recolor not only by selecting one scheme for the whole screen but every single in-game object. VGM and GYM files can also be listened to because of the bundled music player. The changes particular to MasterBoy v2.02 are the following:

PSP homebrew developer Brunni has just announced the release of the MasterBoy application as an entry to the ongoing Neo Summer Coding Competition (2007).This app is a PSP-based emulator capable of playing games from the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Super Game Boy, Sega Master System (SMS), and Game Gear. MasterBoy is based on Brunni's MMSPlus SMS Emulator, which was a winning entry in last year's Neo Summer Coding Competition. MasterBoy carries several new features and functions:
Download: MasterBoy v2.0 Thanks to Borg Queen X for the news tip! Update: Brunni has updated MasterBoy to v2.0a. Unfortunately, we haven't found any documentation on what's new in this release, save for the new v2.0a text that appears on the app's GUI when run in the PSP. We're assuming it's to fix several detected bugs. The download is available if you're interested in upgrading. Download: MasterBoy v2.0a *Original article posted on August 21, 2007, 9: 23 AM. |
