ZX SpectrumHomebrew developer for the PSP, chui, has recently released the second alpha of his ZX-Spectrum emulator called ZX4ALL. Before we delve deep into the emulator, let's have a short walk down memory lane first and try to remember what ZX-Spectrum is. This was a home computer released in the U.K. in the year 1982 and was made by Sinclair Research Ltd. If the U.S. had a Commodore 64, Brits has the ZX- Spectrum.

Some of the games that could be played in this machine are 3D Deathchase, Elite, RoboCop, and All or Nothing among many other titles. Unfortunately, it was discontinued in 1990.

Now back to the present times and to chui'S ZX4ALL. You may know the dev as one of those helpful people who slaved to bring us MAME4ALL for the PSP. Anyway, ZX4ALL is an open source ZX-Spectrum emulator. Chui shares that he is also preparing a new NEO4ALL and DCASTAWAY releases for next week. And with all that aptly mentioned, we bring to you the changelog for this second alpha release.

Changelog
  • Faze Zilog Z80 core.
  • Virtual tape for loading tape images.
  • More options: model, joystick, etc..

MAME4ALL

Kech, has once again updated his port of MAME4ALL for the PSP to v0.0.3 with the aid of Sazuke2911, Chui and Franxis. MAME4ALL is an emulation of arcade video games, allowing you to play all those favourites from yesteryear. So if you're one of those who value old-school, of if you're a young 'un who wants to see how cool the games back then were, give this one a go.

This latest version contains the following updates:
  • Added - full screen only in 'HW Scale' Option (does not work for all the games)
  • Added - analog control
  • Added - further support for ROMS
  • Bug Fix - The memory that impeded the regeneration and left sectors of the ROMS without cleaning
  • other misc small bug fixes
UPDATE: The file for the 2.xx PSPs should be ok now.

MAME4ALLKech has released a port of MAME4ALL for the PSP, with the aid of Sazuke2911, Chui and Franxis. MAME4ALL is an emulation of arcade video games, allowing you to play all those favourites from yesteryear.

This version contains improvements such as:
  • More compatibility
  • The use of the 'Home' key to quit out of the game that is running, and to quit out of the emulator
Current bugs in this version include:
  • Sound is not 100% working in the majority of ROMs
  • ROMs larger than 10mb (zipped) doesn't work
  • Not all the games that previously worked in Chui's MAMEGP32x work in this version
Kech is also working on the possibility of loading the ROMs through Wi-Fi. He's also very much open for constructive suggestions, to reach him, just click on the thread below.
