It looks like Shiren the Wanderer
will be wandering off from the Wii straight to your PSPs. If Japanese
retailer Rakuten's catalog is correct, the PSP port of the game will be
coming on January 28, 2010. |

Those who are into gaming just for the stories can check out AQ
Interactive and ChunSoft's "sound novel" Anato Wo Yurusanai (I Won't
Forgive You), and according to the latest TV spot for this sound novel,
it promises to provide more entertainment compared to just reading
plain black text over white background. This short TV ad shows a row of women reading, with one of them blissfully poring through Anato Wo Yurusanai in her PSP, reading as well as playing at the same time. Hmmm... It sounds an awful lot like playing through Phoenix Wright. |

While not entirely new, novel-themed video games are now slowly gaining popularity. One recent title we've covered is Chunsoft's Anato wo Yurusanai. This time, we'd like to introduce you to Snow Portable from Japan-based development studio Prototype. It is currently available there for 5,040 Yen or roughly around US$ 43.25.
Snow Portable first appeared on the PC platform back in 2003. It was then ported on Sega Dreamcast and the PS2. It features more than 600 different stills with animations and effects. The story pushes forward with the help of a conversation system that allows players freedom to select their characters' actions. To help you get more familiar with Snow Portable, here's the opening cut scene for the title. It shows off some of the characters as well as the plot of the game. Since it's in Japanese, let us help you with that last one: it tells the story of the dragon goddess who fell in love with a human which is utterly forbidden. |

Here are a couple of screenshots for the upcoming Japanese PlayStation Portable title Anato wo Yurusanai. It is being developed by AQ Interactive and Chunsoft and will be available in the Land of the Rising Sun on November 15 for 5,040 Yen or roughly around US$ 44.29. There's still no word if it's going to be released in other markets.
In case you're a bit not sure if these are indeed screenshots for Anato wo Yurusanai, we're telling you they are. It's just that they are a bit different in style and texture because the title is going to be a sound novel and those who want to play it will have to turn their PSP units vertically. A sound novel is basically similar to visual novels. But the thing is Chunsoft has already coined the word and that's why other developers have referred to the genre using the latter term. Anyway, Anato wo Yurusanai is backdropped by an interesting story featuring Takeuchi Ririko and the death of her father as well as the mysterious disappearance of her husband. We hope AQ Interactive decides to make the title available in English-speaking markets. We guess it's about time we get to try a different kind of game for our dear handhelds. In the mean time, just enjoy the screenshots below! See the rest of the screenshots after the jump! |

AQ Interactive has launched the official website for Anato wo Yurusanai, its upcoming sound novel game for the Sony PlayStation Portable handheld gaming system.Since our last post on this title got a few "What's a sound novel?" comments, here's a short backgrounder. According to Wikipedia, the term "Sound Novel" is a trademark of Chunsoft for use in their novel games like Otogirisou and Kamaitachi no Yoru. Sound novels and visual novels are essentially the same thing. The latter is just the term used by non-Chunsoft developers. Anyway, back to the game. The story revolves around a woman called Takeuchi Ririko who works at her father's private investigation firm. Things take a turn for the worse when Ririko's husband leaves her and her father mysteriously disappears. It's now up to Ririko to look for her father while she takes care of his P.I. firm at the same time. The website doesn't have a lot of content at the moment, but there is a brief guide there on how the game can be played. You can also check out a few screenshots of the game there. Those interested can take a look at the official Anato wo Yurusanai website by clicking on the Read link below. The game goes on sale in Japan on November 15. |
