Sega logo - Image 1Sega just suffered a big loss, which forced the gaming company to sever 400 employees and implement pay cuts, leaving them open to an acquisition by another gaming company. However, despite the rather unappetizing numbers, Sega is still one of the "juiciest" companies to take over, according to Codemasters' Bruce Everiss. Read the full article to find out why.

Codemasters threats to sue P2P users, sending warning emails already - Image 1To be quite frank about it,  video game piracy is very rampant on the Internet. This includes simple things such as hacks and mods to the blatant downloading of full retail copies over peer-to-peer websites.

However, it seems that this will stop soon as the latest move from Codemasters indicate that it is not only targetting the operators of such websites but its costumers as well. The full story after the jump!

Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice important changes - Image 1

BigBig Studios Lead Designer Chris Whiteside was recently interviewed regarding Playstation Portable video game Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice. He shared that while some of their team members had earned their experiences with Codemasters before, the Pursuit Force franchise has been a total and new learning process.

"Getting the in-game jumping mechanic right was a huge challenge because we didn't have any reference points. It was a real learning process. Going into this game though, we felt a lot more confident and focused in terms of what we wanted to make," shared Whiteside.

Whiteside also said that several tweaks were made in Extreme Justice gameplay mechanics. A lot of gamers reportedly had problems focusing on one aspect of the game such as taking down a car, giving them little time to accomplish other goals. He explained:

We want to give the player more time to strategise. Hopefully you won't notice it but we've segmented the game up so at one point, you'll be focused on shooting at a vehicle from range and won't be too concerned about your driving. At other times, you'll have to concentrate more on your driving style.

The control scheme of Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice was also changed a bit to make the title more responsive and immersive. Whiteside takes pride on the hybrid first-person shooter control system that provides gamers with a roving lock-on targeting system and an advanced aiming mode. The lead designer discussed:

This lets you strafe left and right but you can't move forward and backwards. It's based on the action from films like Heat. You don't see people running around and shooting all over the place. It's a more measured approach, where you find cover, fire, and then move onto the next piece of cover.

These certainly are welcome changes and additions to Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice and we can't wait to get our hands on it when the game hits PSPs this coming November.

QuickJump QuickPeek 13 - Image 1

(Editor's Note: We're cooking up something specially hot for you guys with our weekly QuickJump QuickPeek! Some of you may have already noticed that this current issue - the 13th issue, no less! - has rolled out early! Why? It's because we're gearing up for a QuickJump QuickPeek TGS 2007 Special Edition once the festivities are done! So while we wait for that, we're giving you this Early Edition that focuses on other news that have cropped up during the week!)

It's Tokyo Game Show week! And even though it's the 13th issue of QuickJump QuickPeek, it's anything but riddled with bad luck! This "Early Edition" will be focusing on the non-TGS updates that have surfaced through the week, because really, the TGS might be one heck of a show stopper on its own (that's why it's getting its own QuickPeek Edition all to itself), but the days building up to the trade show saw a couple of astounding news as well. Almost every gaming platform has had some rather leaky business to deal with, and we're not letting the taps run dry.

Grab your pirate accent and sing your favorite shanty; there are more reasons to celebrate than just Talk Like a Pirate Day! Yaaarrr!

Heroes of the Pacific being resurrected for the PSP? - Image 1

If this post from retail chain EBGames is correct, fans of aerial combat simulator games will have another title to look out for on January 1, 2008 in the form of Heroes of the Pacific. Yep, it seems that the critically-acclaimed PS2 game from IR will be making an outing on the PlayStation Portable.

We checked the title's official site if the developer or even publishers Codemasters and Ubisoft have updated it but unfortunately, the companies have yet to do so. Allow us to speculate a little though in saying that this is not at all an impossibility. It is common practice for video gaming companies to bring PlayStation 2 games to the shiny handheld and vice versa.

Heroes of the Pacific, like we said, is an aerial combat simulator game and delves around WWII. It begins during the attack on Pearl Harbor, with players taking the role of pilot William Crowe. Battles will include famous, or even infamous, Pacific campaigns in Iwo Jima, Philippines, and Wake Island among others.

As much as we would like this one to be a reality, we're putting this one under the Rumor tag for now. As always, updates as we get them!
