Cooleyes has come out with a new version of PMPlayer Advance, bringing us to revision 20080317. This release has two main changes, which you can view after the jump!

Art passed by the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums to announce the release of Time Baby version 13 Final. Among other updates, this new build will carry an IR remote function that allows you to control Time Baby at a distance. Details are available in the full article.

Cooleyes is at it again! He's released a new version of his PMPlayer Advance application, and it's now on build 20080129.

According to the notes we've found, the main additions to this are an update of the 3.80 M33 support and "WiFi functional recovery." In any event, if you want to know more, feel free to check out the full article.

Thanks to a tip from reader TiGuy, we just found out that developer cooleyes has updated the PMPlayer AdVanCe media player to build 20080121. Right off the bat, this version's biggest update is its compatibility with Dark AleX's custom firmware 3.80 M33

Thanks to a tip we picked up from reader Arnout, we're reporting that homebrew developer cooleyes has just released build 20071031 of the PMPlayer AdVanCe media player application. This app, in case you're a first time reader, will enable you to play PMP format files on your PSP. As of build 20071027, PPA also supports the video out feature on PSP Slims running on Custom Firmware 3.71 M33.

As for the rest of the (Google) translated change notes:

• An increase in the main interface shortcuts L + box, whether for switching read document preview information (the same directory as some netizens in the paper too much, if Reading will preview the slow pace, especially in the use of nethost function)

Homebrew developer Cooleyes has come out with PMPlayer Advance (PPA) build 20071027 which cleans up the source code and adds video output for PSP Slim & Lites running Custom Firmware 3.71 M33.

If you've been using a previous version of PMPlayer Advance, you will probably be happy to know that this application now has a new audio decoder which supports 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz and audio channel switching. Here are the rest of the patch notes courtesy of Google Translate:

• based on the PMP AVC MOD 102M improvement, some minor amendments to the original BUG
• PSP using built-in decoder engine, re-support PMP2 (XVID+MP3), but at this stage decoding efficiency is not high
• new audio decoder core, abandoned the PC Transplant from the ffmpeg library, and the application of the latest research by the PSP internal hardware decoding module
• support multicast function. set up in the corresponding window playback mode (single individual player, group multicast, all)
• support around channel switching function
• can set as low as 66 mHz frequency operation (and in the use of nethost, usbhost time, the proposed use of 133 mHz Operation)
• supports 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sampling rate for audio
• support AAC audio interface
• support standby, in the main interface can be manually standby, if more than five minutes without operator will also automatically enter standby;
• when players do not support standby, please do not try to, it may lead to erroneous or even crashed
• fw3xx version of the idle (or even when the player interface standby)

Considering that the instructions on the official site are in Chinese, first-time users might want to do a little research before using the application. To help you on your way, here are the instructions for using the PSP-200X Video Output:

• Connect video output cable to PSP.
• Video-out settings in XMB are ignored, run PPA from XMB.
• In PPA, press [SQUARE] for settings menu.
• Change Aspect Ratio to match your TV (16:9/4:3).
• Change video mode to match your cable/TV (Whatever your cable/TV supports). (Composite/Component. -Int./Component -Prog.)
• Play video after screen is re-directed.

We got word from QJ.NET reader Yufina that homebrew developer cooleyes just rolled out an update for the PlayStation Portable application PMPlayer AdVanCe (PPA) bringing it to build 20071002. Unlike the previous versions, this update is rather short and focuses on a bug found in the earlier release.

For the unitiated, PPA is a program that plays PMP files with AAC support. It also sports other nifty features like standby, TrueType fonts, and skins including ones for English users. You can access the latter by changing the current parameter for the skin from "default" to "normal-en" in the CONFIG.XML file.

Take note that this update only affects the build for firmwares 3.xx. What happened was the bug causing 48k broadcast delay has been detected and corrected. Other than that, PMPlayer AdVanCe build 20071002 is essentially the same as the previous release. The download package below contains both the full version and the Eboot update kits.

The latest update to cooleyes' (or cooleyes_lf) homebrew application, PPA (more officially known as PMPlayer AdVanCe), is build 200070930 (20070916 for 1.50 and lower). It sports compatibility with any 3.xx firmware including 3.71 M33 custom firmware. This fact has been confirmed by tipster Yufina, who also gave us word on the application's availability.

PPA is as English-friendly as the previous build, but it doesn't come with instructions to translate all the text into English (see images above). You could try changing the current parameter for the skin from "default" to "normal-en" in the CONFIG.XML file to get the results we've happened upon. It worked for us, and it might for you, too.

Now the changelog is as lengthy as the previous build, and unfortunately it's just as cryptic. We've "babelized" the list to little avail, though many of those familiar with the application might pick up an idea or two in the jumbled context.

Installation would be easy, as cooleyes puts it. The developer hasn't included documentation, but the changelist has a cryptic version. Take care to follow it, lest you wish to cause harm to your PSP. The program does come in EBOOT format, however, simplifying execution by several folds.

PSP homebrew developer Art dropped by the QJ.Net Forums earlier to announce that the Time Baby application has just been updated to version 6. In case you're a first-time reader, Time Baby is a PSP-based talking graphic alarm clock program, and carries features like a moon phase display, and Sunrise/Sunset information. This application's latest release carries these changes:

• Fixed a graphics bug where aftifacts of the world map crosshair were seen in other screens if the cursor was placed at the bottom of the map. Part of the crosshair graphic was being drawn off the edge of the screen.
• Removed second alarm sound option (siren sound) and implemented cooleyes' mp3 player in it's place.
  

As with all homebrew applications, we advise guys planning to use Time Baby v6 to view the readme included in the bundle for more information. There's also Art's release thread over at QJ's PSP Development forums, if you're interested in providing the developer with feedback.

moneytoo in the QJ forums, PSP homebrew developer">Madruscoe (aka moneytoo; the maker of PMP Mod AVC) has informed us about this bit of homebrew news. PMPlayer AdVanCe (PPA) by cooleyes (cooleyes_lf) has been updated. The homebrew application plays PMP files with AAC support. It also has skins, standby, TrueType (TT) fonts, and more features. More importantly, it has an English skin (although you have to do a little tweak to get it):

• To have an English skin for PPA, edit the config.xml by changing MHP to normal-en (you change the part that says "MHP" into "normal-en").

The release notes are in Chinese, but for those who are curious, you can try to read the nasty Google translation which you can find by clicking on the "Full Article" link. If anyone can read Chinese and translate it for us, though, that would be great too, and we will be forever grateful.

There are several versions available. There is an EBOOT version for FW 1.5 and an EBOOT version for 2.71 SE and 3.XX OE. There may also be other versions, but the links at cngba.com don't seem to work (you can try - just follow the "Via" link below).
